No more immigrants please!

I don't see why people are hypocritically against immigrants when the whites ourselves are illegal immigrants of this land, and we were worse... we killed and raped the people that originally owned this land

Oh god I hate these sorts of arguements.

300 years ago the Americans killed the locals so therefore we should be punished as the white devil forever and forever give back what "we" stole

Not saying that, just saying that the people who think illegal immigrants who are not killing us and raping us and robbing our land shouldn't be made a big fuss out of...

The way things work has changed. I'm sure given the nature of some of our immigrants if they could kill us and get it over with they would.

Times change. These days over here we have problems with crime, social issues regarding culture and lack of adequate facilities to accomodate their "special needs (apparently)."

It's more of an economic and political debate these days as opposed to old fashioned colonialism.

The fact that whites colonised large parts of the world in the past doesn't really bear a jot on the present day.
It bears a very large jot on the present day. Only a fraction of Native American tribes exist today, and there culture fading, because of colonialism. Because of colonialism there are still many dire consequences being felt by many today.

Is there something inherently positive about a culture existing?

This is and has been for the last 4 years a democracy so, if you say that you are framing yourself
Ignoring that America wasn't the country being discussed, nor the country Pegg has listed as her location - idk where she lives - are you under the impression that the US is only a democracy when a Democrat is president?

Nope, but most decisions that are voted on are complained about

Depends on the reason people are against immigrants. Also I'm not an immigrant as I haven't migrated here.

That's not what i mean, you said it was a democracy for the past four years. Leaving aside the fiddly differences about being a democratic republic as we elect representatives who vote on most things for us... I'm just checking that you know that we've been a democracy for nearing 250 years-ish.

I meant having a Democratic president.

times move on - we can't live in the past.

Forget about the Mayflower and Jamestown - that's history now.

Different times, different issues.

People say that most of the time so their enemies wont get angry at them after they done something wrong :D

It may be the past, but it's still relevant. One of the main reasons for anyone to study history is to know how things where done then, and if it didn't work out to not do it again today.
And of course history is also crucial for political debates, especially here in America where it can become obvious within 10 seconds if someone actually has any knowledge of US history and Constitutional law.

we do seem to learn from history though.

for instance colonialism seems to have disappeared for now , or at least changed form.

But human nature will always be the same - ie: one man dominating another.

Rich and poor is part of human nature - all to do with the ego.

No but there is no point in continually bringing up the fact that white people are native to pretty much nowhere. People who bring it up these days over here are people who expect white people to have no opinion on immigration because their ancestors 300 years ago stole land. Its an arguement used a lot here in Australia with regard to an influx of immigrants (most people here I think would have heard of the boat people) we do not have the means to support continually. However, the fact that white Australians immigrated 300 years ago is used as a way of making us look like racists with interests in only ourselves. Quite frustrating to be honest.

History though can be used to victimize a dominant race into forever paying for the mistakes of the past.

Its like making todays generation of Germans feel ashamed of the holocaust that they cannot do a thing about. How is that in any way productive?

It wouldn't. But because of history it gave reason to raise many red flags when America began it's own version of Homeland Security.

But it already has. Because of white white people did to aboriginals about 70 years ago the government apologised even though 90% of the population was not around to do anything about it.

 They still act like the white devil owes them everything though.
