Yawn. Whatever you say, dear. You know what I know? That I would be TICKED OFF if someone decided arbitrarily that a fly's life was worth more than mine and saved the fly rather than me from a burning house. That would tick me off. And then I'd die. But hey, the fly would live!

Yeah, that is the point that you had to make in caps. It is a feeling!!!

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Because if I start talking about ants I can see more understandable objections. You're talking about mind, reason and will, denying them in regard to other species who have a corpus callosum. What is your answer to my question?
My answer is that's one reason that I don't have a monkey as a pet. But we're not just talking about apes and monkeys and orangutans. We're talking about flies and fleas and all those not so cute animals as well.

Huh? Given what I have posted in #621 how do you manage to deny an orangutan can reason or have will?

You know why that orangutan made the news? BECAUSE IT WAS A NEWS WORTHY STORY. We don't make the news just for reasoning about medicine or whatever, because it's not news worthy. We do it all the time.

And orangutans reason and have will ALL the time - so it's not newsworthy. So the cerebral cortex functions described above - you're saying this is incorrect? viz -

"The cerebral cortex, also known as the cerebral mantle, is the outer layer of neural tissue of the cerebrum of the brain in humans and other mammals It is the largest site of neural integration in the central nervous system, and plays a key role in attention, perception, awareness, thought, memory, language, and consciousness. The cerebral cortex is the part of the brain responsible for cognition.

Apparently others agree with me, but whatever.
On what basis do you reject this? :

Horses for courses is not superior,

It's not sad that animal don't need technology, they live well without it
Very good. You're superior to sharks and every other animal.

Humans are superior though.

How do you know they live "well" without it? You know they live without it but the "well" part is just your opinion, unless you're dr dolittle.

Sorry, doesn't say anything about a mind, which is what I am discussing.
