No to Fake Meat

Not really. You keep changing your answer. First it was because it was too expensive, but then you said you wouldn't eat it even if it was cheaper. Then you said you wouldn't eat it because you prefer your meat to all come from a single cow rather than a blend, and I explained that cultured meat could still produce that quality of meat. Then finally you said you reared cattle, but stopped short of answering why this necessarily meant you wouldn't want to eat cultured meat.

Is it because you see cultured meat as a threat to your livelihood or not?

Says the "you eat it, then" guy.

Why not just give a straight answer to a question when asked? Why are you so scared of cultured meat?
I'm getting a headache on your behalf. :relaxed:

That's your error. Why do you think there is only one reason? I gave you several reasons. Its still not good enough for you.

Because they weren't very good reasons. You argued with price, then said price wasn't a factor. You argue the quality, I said the quality could be the same.

You never produced a coherent reason as to why you wouldn't buy cultured meat. I'm not the only one who sees it.

You need to go read again.
I never said I wouldn't buy it because of price.

You may. :)

I live in the UK and thus feel that I am able to have a healthy and affordable diet with or without meat. This being so I see no reason to choose the option whereby I am an end user of industries that involve suffering and killing.
"user of industries that involve suffering and killing"

So when lab grown meat becomes popular, are you going to fill your fridge with meat?

But it potentially COULD BE. That's the point.

... Says the person who opposes the idea of lab grown meat because it is CURRENTLY too expensive, despite the fact that advances in the field have reduced its production cost to ONE THIRTY-THOUSANDTH of its production cost in less than a decade.

Yep, I'm the short-sighted one.
I COULD sprout wings and fly

You are the short sighted one

People who don't eat meat because of ethics, environmental factors, suffering of animals, killing of animals, religious reason, health reason, etc want an alternative.

To add....look at the potential market for lab grown meat. The meat industry will never get them in their market but labs may. It could be a big money maker.

"According to a recent study, 22% of the global population is vegetarian. Another report says that almost 10% of Americans above 18 consider themselves vegan or vegetarian, and the number is increasing daily"

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: If lab grown meat reduces the industries involving cows, sheep, chickens etc then I am in favour of the development as you might expect. But for me personally there is not just the welfare issue, it is also one of taste preferences. Our preferences ultimately come from our minds yes? - not simply our nose or mouth. Our preferences can change over the years, but we still have the same nose and mouth. After not eating meat for 40+ years I personally find the thought of putting meat in my mouth repulsive, whatever its origin. (I suppose there is also the minor issue of knowing or trusting the supposed source of any particular product, but that's not a concern of mine personally since I won't be eating any meat).
