Oklahoma schools in revolt over Bible mandate

Maybe you misunderstood me. I was asking if you believed the claim that they only wanted to teach, "the Bible’s role in literature, history and culture." I don't. I know why they want their Bible in public schools. These people are confirmed liars. They just want the Supreme Court to OK what they say they want, but you can be certain that more bait-and-switch would follow.

I gave the argument for that. All we need do is look at the SCOTUS justices lying to be confirmed as well as what has happened since. Those justices always intended to impose their religion on you and me (I'm out of their jurisdiction now, so not me). And when others said that their intention was to let the states decide the matter, they were lying again. So why would we believe them now?

Liar, grifter, adulterer, sexual predator, malignant narcissist, sociopath, and convicted felon? I have to disagree there.

Yes, Jesus was a convicted felon, which is a huge blemish in his biography in my opinion. The idea that he was unfairly and unjustly convicted is as untenable as when Trump makes the same claim for himself. If Trump's defenders end up writing the history books, he too will be exalted despite being an enemy of the state. Jesus was convicted by two unrelated legal system of two distinct capital crimes. Both would have executed him, and the one that could did.

Why should the Bible as literature be taught to grade schoolers? There is much better literature than that. It's practically unreadable.

Besides, that's not the intent. You know that as well as I do.

They also say that it should be taught as history, but most of it is myth, magic, poetry, and prophecy. Where's the history part? We don't know for a fact that Jesus isn't also a myth.
I am not concerned so much with intent as with conduct. The Bible as literature is a core foundation , a major cultural mooring of western culture. To deny that fact is a travesty. Now will fundamentalists see this as an opportunity to 'get the camels nose in the tent"? yes indeed, the far right fundies and far left woke both would like to get their tentacles in the schools and must always be watched. Bible as literature must be taught, nothing more

I'm not sure about what the disagreement is. Maybe a misunderstanding? I only said about Jesus that he is a liar and convicted felon.
There are other beloved figures, though, for which the rest fits, Moses, David, Solomon and others.

This is where the Bible's followers show that it's
not a book appropriate for school children.
The Bible as literature is a core foundation , a major cultural mooring of western culture.
It's a foundation in the sense that progress is made
in opposition to what Bible thumpers want, ie, a
theocracy based on their religion alone.
To deny that fact is a travesty.
To claim it's a fact requires an evidenced cogent argument.

Do you want all of the Bible taught?
That would include mass murder, intolerance,
theft, sexual perversion, assault, ignorance,
& general wickedness.
Or should it be the sanitized Bible, & only
the positive aspects of Christianity's history?

Then you haven't looked in the right place. You know what I love? That leftists don't have the courage to admit how much they hate trump. It's sad to see people so unaware of their own hatred.

Let us say I hate Trump. But then I would know it and don't have to act on it, since I am aware of it.
So the problem is not hate. It is what follows after as reaction/action.

Much better to teach kids they can be the opposite sex and lop off their genitalia.

You believe that's being taught?

Kids need to learn math, science, writing, history, critical
reasoning, & other such useful skills & knowledge.
Not sky fairy mythology that would only make them dumber.
How are the kids doing in those subjects? They outpacing the rest of the world in math and science etc are they? Really? Talk about fairy mythology

There is the dogmatic atheism. one deletes God one replaces God with other Gods, self, television, sports, or worst of all, statism. a German philosopher warned about that in 1890, and it came true.

Of course it's true. The eft is as rabid about their dogma as any religion
