Then why keep bringing up souls?
It is not me who keeps bringing up souls.
You didn't really address it.
So you really, truly believe that a fully developed, borne, fully conscious, living and breathing, human being with social connections and a full life is the equivalent of a zygote or a fetus, which has none of those things? I find that rather absurd. They are clearly not the same thing.
I am not going to address equivalency. I believe that they both have the same right to life.

I think they have become militant more than shifted. The shift is there but the militancy has been very popular recently.
I would argue a part of that shift is how these groups are becoming more mainstream and accepted in the public eye. 20 years ago if someone tried to abduct a governor, I feel confident saying it wouldn't matter who or what sides where involved there would be overwhelming bipartisan support to throw the books at them and punish them to the absolute fullest extent of the law. Today, however, the sheriff in the county where it happened said he thinks they may have more authority than those who arrested them.

So why should elective abortion be covered by insurance?
I don't remember suggesting that they should, but it is a medical procedure. I wonder if Viagara is covered.

But, as I've been saying, in this thread and others on abortion, the US healthcare system is bizarre and backwards to me. It's the only country in the developed world (and beyond) that doesn't have universal healthcare. And I think in a world like that, forcing someone to carry a baby to term places undue burden on people who can't afford it (never mind the cost of having to raise the child). I can't even imagine how much it costs out of pocket to have a baby in a hospital in the US. An abortion is cheaper, in the long run. So you can tell the insurance company they're actually saving money.

Gee, that doesn't limit freedom at all, does it? :(
From the party that screams "freedom" from the mountaintops while simultaneously stripping away all your rights to your own body.

This is like the playbook on how you get to Handmaid's Tale. Next thing you know they'll be shutting down women's bank accounts, lest they try using the money to get an abortion out of state, where they aren't even allowed to go anyway.
Scary stuff.

There is a simple solution. All we need to do is to overturn the 19th amendment. Who thought that giving women the right to vote was a good idea.. Ahh, barefoot and pregnant, that'll teach 'em.

Viagra, in its brand name form, is not covered on insurance plans from most insurance companies. However, many medicare coverage options and health plans offer insurance coverage for it under their prescription drug coverage.Mar 14, 2022
How Much Does Viagra Cost? With & Without Insurance

That is a valid point. If the government is going to force women to have the baby then the health care system should cover all the costs.
