Should pornography be bannes? If so, is it because or partially because it exploits women?

I didn't say that. I just said that if women who like having their faces come on exist, I have not met them. In contrast, most straight women do like some combination of coitus, cunnilingus, fellatio, toys, anal play, light bondage, and / or mutual masturbation. We talk about these things.

Just trying to get the stereotypes out of the way before Horrorble claims them for her own.

It's spelled either way, just fyi.

In any case, "come" is the preferred spelling, with "cum" as a variant.

To say the least and keep it civil...

I do stuff

I watched bites and pieces of Mercedes Ashley interview. It runs a little over an hour. She may not represent the average porn star. Then again, I haven't met any porn star. What I do know is that an interview with a girl next door type of woman no one would be interested in. Bad news stories always gets more people's attention then a good story. People in general have a morbid sense of curiosity. When it comes to porn stars personal lives, we usually only hear the bad stories, never any good stories. A person doing an interview or documentary must have some sort of agenda. In most cases it would be money, ratings or to confirm some sort of view.

I think the porn industry as it now exists exploits women, but I do not see this exploitation as intrinsic to the nature of the porn industry. Rather, I think this exploitation exists because the industry is under-regulated. Proper regulation, properly enforced would go far to ameliorate the exploitation of women in the industry.

I don't ccaaarrreee! It's a symbol of ownership that's what it is, whether or not an individual woman thinks she likes it or not. I can criticise any woman hating depictions as I see fit, thanks!

Pretending to own one's partner, like pretending to rape one's partner, is something some couples find enhances their pleasure.

All of which I agree with, but to take the stance that no women enjoy the act is, given the total sum of human population, unlikely. Same goes for chalking all instances of enjoyment of the act up to brainwashing or trauma.

When talking about random bombings, how much sense does it make to bring up the fact that statistically, terrorism is bound to save people occasionally from having to commit suicide which they were about to do, or from becoming a murderer themselves, etc.? Sure it's technically true, but who would discuss it with a straight face?

Based on you and your circle of friends, right?

Exactly.. I mean, I feel that way about feminist issues even as a man.. I don't know what "is good for women", but I have a rough idea of what I think is good for humans, what they're capable and worthy of, and of some ways in which they can get bent without facing up to it. It's much harder for me to tell a person those things directly though, than it is for me to make up my mind about them. We aren't always as mysterious or complex as we'd like to think; the rationalizations may be endless, but that's sometimes like a few pieces of coal giving off a lot of smoke. Many people like to own and/or consume things and people, that's what they think life is... and even being owned is sometimes preferable to having to think and being a person. That's the disease, and there are a LOT of symptoms, porn's just one of them.

It's a pretty big circle, spanning three continents and two dozen cities. I've never in my life heard a female person express an interest in having her face ejaculated on. I've never seen a Cosmo article called "spice up your sex life by getting him to come on your face", and I've never seen a porno made by women for women that includes a "come in the face" shot.

I'm not saying nobody anywhere is into it, I'm just saying it's a very unusual kink, and I know girls who like whips. Hell, I know women who like to be peed on. I am in am erotica writers group. It just doesn't come up, so to speak.

This I agree with. I also think mental health services, economic development, education and better child protection would make a big dent in the number of women willing to be exploited in that particular fashion, at least those who are motivated by drug addiction, self-destructive inclinations resulting from early abuse, or desperate women who feel they have no other economic prospects.

Agreed. If I had to pick out one thing that I believe would do more than anything else to ameliorate the abuses of the porn industry I would pick an economy with lots of opportunities for gainful employment elsewhere.
