"Religion of Peace?"

In my study of Islam, I realized that "Sharia" is one of those words that many non-Muslims don't understand. I agree with you about Jewish law, Halakha, being analogous.

THANK YOU!

It took me ten messages to explain what you took the initiative to learn on your own, to someone who just didn't get (or want to accept) if.

Add to that list, "Jihad" "Mujahadeen" and "Taqiyya" and you have the most miused-by-non-Muslim terms.

Far from the only, unfortunately.

My main source of reasoning is from Islamic texts. If I were being biased against Islam I would go along with the popularly promoted media spin on Islam being a "religion of peace" which is not supported by any fair citing of the Koran, Hadith or Sunnah.
If my main source of reasoning to conclude Christianity was racist, misogynistic, approves or at least apologized for slavery, incredibly violent with four separate instances of genocide, and homophobic, I need not look any further than the bible. But it wouldn't give me any actual indication of what actual Christians believe on the subject.
My interpretation and why I am not Christian =/= Why people are Christian and their interpretation.

Let me quote from a Muslim site:

So you were looking for a word definition. Next time how about just saying that?

I'm asking a question not based upon popular media opinion be that by Muslims or leftist liberal secularists who are given air time but core Islamic texts.

I'm basing my claims on large polls, not popular media.

You seem to be asking us to give you a parsimonious reading of the scripture, taken in isolation. Again, it's a valid question, but your questions have been vague and ambiguous.

And again, as I said many posts ago, a parsimonious reading of Abrahamic scripture leads me to conclude that none of them are peaceful. And Islamic scripture IS one of the Abrahamic scriptures.

The op might suffer from cowardice.

If you don't strike first you won't be struck. Every person and nation has a right to fight oppression and invaders of their land, attacks against you or family.
Except, Muhammad did fight wars against people who were not attacking him. You've also confirmed my OP as highlighted.

I put "Islam" in quotes to help you further.

Polls told Americans Clinton would win. So much for polls.

Such as?

What you are likely referring to is when word was received a tribe that had signed a peace treaty was colluding with the enemy.

Negating the treaty is a sign you are going to have to fight them, might as well bring it to them, no?

In which case it's their own treachery that caused it.

What reference do you cite for this comment?

Far worse than that, unfortunately. The usual response seems to be instead to actually demand others to agree with them on claiming that the extremists are "not really Muslims".
Since there is no Islamic "Catholic church" saying who is a "real" Muslim and who is not, it's up to the individual to judge just like in the political sphere there are those who claim that others are not "real" Democrats or Republicans.

So when I read that someone believes that someone is not a real "whatever", I take that as a personal opinion backed up with a specific reasons.

If you are still obsessed with Sharia hou always will be. Those polls are junk, Muslims already live according to Sharia in America, it's a protected right.

How hard is it to understand that you don't have to fight for rights already possessed?

You base conclusions on literature and your interpretation of.

But not ours. They are not valid conclusions just opinions you only use to justify intolerance.

If Christianity is a "religion of peace" as some Christians and rightist conservatives state, where do the Christian terrorists get their violent actions from?
What is this thread about? Please read the OP.

You may like to start a thread on your question.

Thank you for being understanding.

In the US we have separation of church and state. Muslims are free to follow the religious aspects of Islam. It is against the law for Muslims to follow the legal aspects of Islam, the Sharia. For example, in the US it is illegal to murder an apostate.

Please follow along. The OP poster is specifically asking about an isolated interpretation of the scripture.

That'll soon change.

In Europe sharia is taking hold. How do you think Muslims react when they can't get their way?
