"killers" with no distinction from other "killers",
ie, a singular word applies to them all?
No, killing is sometimes justified. Killing Nazi soldiers to protect your country from their aggression is vastly different from killing someone to rob them.
I'm not a pacifist; I'm just a believer in only using violence, up to and including lethal violence, when absolutely necessary.

those who attacked him....which doesn't excuse them.

Yes, there are many destinations made depending on the reason and method of killing but one fact remains the same, they are all killers.
That sorta eliminates the distinctions.

Basically, some areas of the US have stricter gun laws than others. Maine is pretty liberal (in the "less strict sense") with its gun laws, whereas Massachusetts is not.

Yes, the people of a State should be able to establish their own firearm laws as long as they do not violate the Consitution or Federal law

I doubt that he'll be the exemplar.
One can get a false impression of approval with coming
from people who are vigorously defending him from
those vigorously opposed to the not guilty verdict.

Typically, I agree. Different states have different needs. I do think it becomes problematic when one states openness becomes an issue in another state that may be battling firearm violence. For instance, Illinois has pretty strict gun laws, but neighboring states like Indiana do not, and many guns are brought in through that route. Not sure what the answer is. It's likely more complicated than legislation, especially when you consider much of the gun violence in places like Chicago stem from drugs and the relationship with poverty. You know, systemic issues.

The Kyle Rittenhouse case demonstrates most anybody can effectively defend himself without the need of having a semi-auto firearm loaded with 30 rounds. Rittenhouse was able to fend off an angry mob by firing just eight shots. Hence, I'm confident private ownership of rifle magazines loaded with more than eight rounds will be effectively banned by imposing a hefty tax and national registry database on any private owner of high capacity magazines enabling mass shooters to kill.
