Must be car day, daughter just messaged me and said she just got charged $1,100 for car repairs
A year ago December, I paid over $4000 for a transmission rebuild and they had to do it again (for free) three months later. I think that is about 8 million in Australian money, give or take.

Nope but they do hiss at you
I doubled back and saw you posted a reference. So it is a type of skink. We have species of those here too. If I'd have read far enough, I would have answered my own question. I suppose North and Central America have the only venomous lizards.

But what part of the transmission did they rebuild?
That's a good question. They just said it needed a complete rebuild. When it didn't take, they covered the cost of the 2nd one and it has held up so far.

When it first happened, it stopped on me while I was out driving around and starting throwing codes all referencing something with the transmission. You could hear it happening and I knew enough to know where the problem was before I read the codes.

I don't understand cars today. I rarely drive at night these days because the 10,000 red lights on the dashboard scare me

I like the fact that you get the codes. It at least gives you something to work with when going to a shop or deciding what to do about it. But I sort of live in fear that something new will light up.

They are so complicated and difficult to work on anymore. You need to be a specialist with specialist tools that cost a fortune. I liked my old Dodge Charger. It was easy to work on. I understood it. It was a 71. Enough room in the engine compartment that you could stand in there and work on things. Not really, but it did have a lot more room to work on repairs then modern cars.

The transmission on my car has this hokey, gimmicky practically useless option to use it like a regular automatic or as a standard and shift through the gears. I don't. It's just more crap to break.

I think that was to make it more marketable to men with the idea that it was some sort of performance option. It isn't.

Mines the same, even has a paddle shift. I've never used it
