Not really bears....just crazed koalas
Some sort of mutant tree kangaroo. Probably has some poisonous fangs or spurs that haven't been discovered yet. Or maybe it shoots out poison hairs and no one has yet noticed with all the other dangerous stuff to avoid.

It took me a minute to connect your post above with the one about listening to music.

Oddly, I saw the Eurogliders in Columbia, MO about 1985 during my first year of college. I didn't go to Mizzou, but I had a friend from there and went to Columbia with him for a weekend. I don't think I knew until recently, that they were an Australia postpunk pop band. I just ran across something that reminded me of that concert and hence the recent references. I'm going to guess, they are not on heavy rotation with your tastes.

I'd heard the name but couldn't place it, I just looked on youtube. Now I know why my brain forgot.
