For the record, I think spam is disgusting.
Bully beef is the English staple.

During and after the war, yes, britain relied on America for all sorts of stuff, including spam.
By the time i was born Britain had more or less rebuilt and didn't really need spam anymore.
But as i said some corner shops kept some in storage...
