We observe Saturnalia, not for religious reasons but it's what the children have chosen for nothing more than the mercenary reason that they get more presents.

Sounds like a fun family custom...No, its an ancient Roman festival celebrating Saturn.
We observe the daily present giving and the last day meal and king/queen for a day.
The children decided who will be head of the house between themselves, the chosen one gets to issue all domestic instructions for that day

I think that's a great thing.We tried to show the children different customs so midwinter we had a different a celebration each year. They decided Saturnalia was best so we kept it. And yes, it's a good week
