The People's Republic of New York once again tells businesses what they can and cannot do.

So no restrictions on polluting air or water with industrial waste -- or plastic? No restriction on environmental degradation? No testing or regulation of food or drugs? No prohibitions of theft or extortion? No building or safety codes? No labor laws? No requirement of expertise in trades?
Perfect license? This is the utopia conservatives expect from small government and free trade?
As long as it dosent interfere with essential liberties have at it.

What about "life"? Notice that in the phrase "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" that life comes first. I believe that the government has a responsibility to prevent actions that endanger other peoples lives, as well as other people's liberty.

This is what comes to mind every time I hear about health and safety in wake of regulatory and enforcement measures that typically follows such pronouncements.

"Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety". Benjamin Franklin

"He who gives his freedom for safety gets none of them". Thomas Jefferson

And those who eschew public health and safety end up poisoned, maimed, polluted and/or dead.

Who died from a plastic bottle?
In February 2018, a young sperm whale was found dead at the coast of Spain near Murcia.

Scientists performed a necropsy and were shocked by what they found: The whale had swallowed 64 pounds of plastic!
The content of its stomach included plastic bags, nets, ropes, sacks and even a jerry can.

It looks like the whale was unable to digest or expel the plastic which caused an inflammation of the stomach and, ultimately, a gastric shock.

As you can easily see from the picture, the whale was severely emanciated. While a grown male normally weighs 120,000 pounds, the one found in Spain weighed only 14,300 pounds.

It literally starved to death with a full stomach.

Google can address your ignorance.

Your question was answered.

Notice you gave a glib response instead of actually addressing the content of the post that directly related to your question. Living creatures are being harmed and/or killed by our use of plastics. Ourselves included.

You know what I find interesting here.....is I do not think the OP has any idea what the PRC was really like or what it is really like today..... it was likely much worse than the OP knows and is much more controlling than ANYTHING the OP will ever come across in NYS

and with that, I am out of this silliness

Yep , I encourage all Americans not to run to the ocean and throw their bottles , plastic bags, and other items in.

It's bizarre to me that you think that's how plastics end up in the ocean. Read one of the articles provided to you and learn something.

So wait a second here, you didn't ask that question with any kind of sincerity at all, did you?
If you do your research correctly you'll find most of the plastics come from Asia particularly from several rivers.

I'm sure you and I both know that the problem isn't the hotel owners.

And our glorious supreme chairwoman is indeed very proud of our loyal and patriotic lawmakers who unceasingly meets the needs of the great people's state beyond all expectations , and to the greatest highest happiness of the hotel owners who are very appreciative of the intervention of the great people's party here, saving them the disgrace of issuing those dirty filthy bottles that pollute the great glorious motherland of this fine empire.

Why don't you just move already? You seem to really hate it there

Like a lot of people I really wouldn't mind moving , but I still got roots here, family, and a job , plus I'm trained to adapt and not having the impulse to run away from my problems just because the going gets tough ,and while I'm here , I'm having a great time reporting the going on's here in the great People's Republic.

So human use of plastics allows for them to end up polluting our oceans and our bodies. Without realizing it, you're confirming that here.
But it's not us here in North America, it's foreign people somewhere else that are the problem. Our use of plastics somehow isn't causing any problems. Just "plastics coming from Asia." Our plastic somehow doesn't end up in the oceans unless somebody physically walks to the shore line and chucks it in.

And this makes sense to you somehow?
I'm sure you and I both know that the problem isn't the hotel owners.
It's the mass production and use of plastics that are clogging up our environment and bodies that is the problem.

There's a difference between "running away from problems" and enduring an environment one hates to be around when instead you could have a better life elsewhere. Seems more conducive to living a happier life. I couldn't imagine sticking around in a place I hated being in then venting about how much I hated the place to strangers online... Doesn't seem healthy to me. Reminds me of how coworkers trauma bond over being forced to work in a work environment they hate being in by venting to each other about how terrible it is to work there
