But unfortunately, instead of getting tickets to Budapest, the two friends mistakenly purchased tickets to Bucharest — another Eastern European city located in Romania. (Oops.)

By the looks of her TikTok, @sophealice and her BFF didn’t actually catch the error until they made it to the airport. She filmed their reaction while going to board the flight, which was clearly marked “Bucharest” at the gate.

“They sound similar right,” she wrote in her post caption.

Since it was too late to back out, the two friends decided to see what Bucharest had to offer and chronicled their “surprise” trip in subsequent TikToks.

That's the kind of mistake one would expect Americans to make, but it wasn't Americans.

“Essentially, what happened was my best friend — who lived in Australia initially, now he’s gone to New Zealand — he came over and surprised me,” the TikToker explained. “I had no idea he was coming, and then he was like, ‘Surprise!’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, great’ and then he was like, ‘Oh, also, I booked us a trip away — we’re going somewhere in Eastern Europe.”

Both the trip and the destination were meant to be a surprise, but when the pair showed up at the airport, her friend realized he’d made a critical mistake.

That said, they wound up having no regrets.

“It was amazing,” @sophalice shared.

A lot of people on TikTok said they’d also visited Romania and loved it.

“I was in Bucharest may 22 and it was class honestly want to go back,” one person shared.

“bucharest is banging anyway,” one person noted, while another called the entire country a “lovely” place to visit.

Well, at least they didn't mix up Iran and Iraq.

Still, they strike me as the kind of travelers who end up characterized in horror movies, throwing caution to the four winds and having no clue as to where they're going.

It's the new gold rush.
Platinum rush. There is between $70 and $200 of platinum in a catalytic converter plus other rare but not as expensive metals.

Not worth getting killed for is it?

There was once an experiment in the UK with specially equipped vehicles to vacuum the roads and filter out the platinum expelled from cats. Not heard the results or anything else about it so i assume it was a failure.

That's just proof that no matter what, Catness stands above even Englishness. I assume the English were polite about it, and brought the boxes of million dollar toys to appease the cats and warm them up to the idea and thank them for their cooperation, but they're cats so they took the boxes and kept the platinum to themselves and gave those doomed English that big eyed stare that enslaved them to the cats.

Nothing new in the UK. Strikes mail and rail (mail goes by rail) see to that. Only last week did my friend receive the Christmas card i sent in early December
Oof. How do they honestly fix this? Imagine all of the people who sent checks to pay bills through the mail. Imagine all of the people who sent in their taxes and now have to resend them. That would be a nightmare for just about everyone involved in that mail system.

How does one do that? Book to the wrong country? I've accidentally bought tickets to the wrong Fox Theater once, but the wrong country?

The one thread reminded me of something very odd about my ex. "I cut the bigot's head off and I stuffed it in my bag," as ICP rapped, that's not cool, it's not ok, should not be singing about that stuff, but according to my ex Slipknot screaming out "I wanna slit your throat and **** the wound" is ok, awesome, best band ever.

I'm starting to feel like Beavis and Butthead when they go without TV over my going without stabbing people.
I still think @Wu Wei should be nice and go maul some of the workers at the plasma center to open up hiring for me.

Well, I guess they weren't very bright. Bucharest, Budapest - if they're not up on geography and never heard of these places before, I guess it can all blur together. I was kind of a map whiz when I was a kid, but I've also encountered a lot of people who just aren't into maps and only have a vague idea of where places are.

It reminds me of horror movies which might depict some couple (or maybe a group of teenagers), lost and alone somewhere - without a clue as to where they are, where they're going, or why they're in such a dumb movie.

But I've heard Bucharest is actually pretty nice. So is Budapest. At least they didn't end up in Transylvania - or worse still, Pennsylvania.
