Well, there are 2 relevant definitions of see.
-perceive with the eyes; discern visually.
-discern or deduce after reflection or from information; understand.

So you can see a gun and you can see 2+2=4 is true. But is not the same definitions, so yes, definitions matter and sometimes it matters that there are several for the same word. Go figure.
I spoke only of vision & it's complexities.

I prefer that handguns be concealed.
This avoids creating unease.
Agreed.

I've seen enough turds(from all walks of life) 'unconceal' their concealed weapons when they think someone threatening is around. It tends to say more about the person with the gun than the person they're worried about.

This was once a factor in the ending of a friendship for us.

Been to TX for work (engineer) & to haul antique engines.
Been to AZ for Grand Canyon & snowboarding.
Been all over CA. I lived in W LA (Brentwood), & would run
up in the Santa Monica mountains. (I was in shape then.)
I once ran past the Beverly Hillbillies mansion...which is
actually in Bel Air. I commuted down to Hawthorne
where Northrop once was. Traffic...ugh....even in the 70s.
I ran in the Palos Verdes Marathon. One of my knees
disagreed with this choice, but it forgave me.

Been to Arizona and Nevada...as well as multiple other states and a few countries... also climbed the Great Wall in Badaling China too.

But all you are doing now is making me wish I went with my first thought as a response..... Who asked, ya....big deal, whatever, who cares, go away, shut yer pie hole, we don't like your kind in these here parts....

I see, said the blind woman, as she picked up her hammer and saw

Sorry, had to do it...:D

Never been to New Orleans or Texas, have considered Texas, have no desire to go to New Orleans....been to California, liked Santa Monica much better than LA, liked San Diego, really like Newport Bach...did not like San Francisco, but did like Miur Wood.

But what I really wanted to post in response was

Who asked, ya....who cares, go away, shut yer pie hole, we don't like your kind in these here parts....

I've been to New Orleans and Texas. Quite humid, they are.

Arrows of neon and flashing marquees out on Main Street
Chicago, New York, Detroit and it's all on the same street
Your typical city involved in a typical daydream
Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings

Dallas, got a soft machine
Houston, too close to New Orleans
New York got the ways and means
But just won't let you be

Out of those, I've only been to Chicago and Detroit.

I didn't care much for Chicago(other than the pizza), but Detroit was okay.

I've never had trouble as an in-your-face atheist anywhere
in USA, including the deep south. Perhaps my winning
personality saves me, eh.
People who carry guns don't scare me. It's actually rare
that I ever see any civilian's gun in public. (I can't even
remember the last time.) Did you see many openly
carried guns in your travels (excluding cops)?
I'll bet you did not wear your "Jesus is a myth, the Bible is a crock, Christianity is a dangerous cult" T-shirts when you were there.

No, but as you might guess, I'll discuss
religion at the drop of a hat...or pants.
Civility & discussing common ground
(not just differences) goes a long way.
And I don't bite.

Must be my relatively sophisticated people skills.

I know many many gun owners & licensed carriers.
But the only one I know who is "scared" doesn't
carry his. This is good. Frightened people aren't
suitable for carrying guns. Are you thinking of
cops too? "Officer safety! <bang> <bang>, etc"
No, cops, just regular wankers who are too quick to think of their gun a shield and sollution. Amd no matter the reasons it always boils down to fear, with a fear if muggers and rapists being as sane and rational as it gets. Like those I've known who open carry at family gatherings, my own and others. They don't have to say anything, it's obvious they're scared of their own shadow, but they usually see enemies and dangers everywhere. One, who clearly demonstrats how dangerous letting these sorts have a gun, is ex military amd carries his with him everywhere because he's also one of the few military people I've known who actually had been in combat and killed people and from what he says a touch of PTSD from it because he's hypervigilant and said he just doesn't feel safe without it.

My uncle is one of the other three military people I've known who was in combat. He was a helicopter gunner like the Drill Sargeant in Fullmetal Jacket. Except his helicopter got shot down and I never heard him talk about his military service unless he was drunk.

The third one I've known was a former Marine, coworker at the gas station, and probably a pathological hothead because he didn't just have anger management issues (he punched and knocked out a guy, at work, who dissed the Marines), he was open and honest he joined the Marines to fight (and kill) people, and he picked the red uniform shirt because it matches it temper.
Everybody was rear entry and often pushing pencils, including the old Navy Master Chief (or something like that, it's been awhile since I saw his ID) at the gas station who gave me the nickname the Assassin.

Nah. For many of us it's like insurance.
I don't fear a tree falling on my house,
but I buy insurance just in case.
Neither do I fear assault.
But I take precautions.
I meant those I've known who always have their gun on them. As I described them, they are too quick to think of their gun as a shield and sollution. The sorts I imagine who make the news in a Stamd Your Ground state where an obviously bad shooting happened and the law is being claimed as a defense.

I got that workbook ordered, from some Goodwill somewhere selling what may have "property of xxxx library" stamped in it. It's actually the first of a five book series and should make the rest of the basic stuff less steep for me amd serve as a guide for learning from other sources. Amd give me a chamce to actually get used to reading Japanese before learning the basic Kana and then jumping straight to Kanji. Right now I read it like I did when I was a little kid amd just learning how to read English.
