The conservation area near me has a "Bird Feeder Trail", where the birds are comfortable enough around humans that they will eat seeds out of your hand or off the top of your hat. Kids with chickadees are just about as cute and heartwearming as kids with puppies.

Attention:

Our van has a door handle problem. The inside latch on the sliding door is broken, the outside latches on both the passenger door and the driver's door (which just broke yesterday) are broken, and the turn latch for the back hatch is broken completely off. This is to say...we can only get into the van from the side door, but can't get out that way. We can get out from the driver or passenger door, but we can't get in. and don't even ask us how we manage the back hatch.

Now, about our power windows...don't even want to get started on that debacle.

At least the van runs...which is more than can be said for our car.
