Ya, I can just picture Jesus tending his flock with an AR-15 slung over his shoulder.

Awwww. com'on. AR's nor powder weapons didn't exist then.
However his disciples did carry swords.

After all the signs and wonders and teachings and warnings of Jesus—even until the time that He was arrested by the Jewish religious authorities on the night of His betrayal—nowhere in the Scriptures do we find Jesus at any time prohibiting His Disciples from carrying swords—even into the garden where Jesus was arrested on the Mount of Olives.

Git'cher facts down pat prior to posting nonsense please.
Lack of knowledge betrays words.

Don't hold your breath.
Some States are moving to mandatory insurance, too many children are getting maimed and killed in accidents, you can hunt your varmints with (say) 5 or 7 shot fixed mags which require hand loading, there are far too many injury incidents........... not so silly.

Citations please? Else your remarks are your opinions.
Opinions are like____________ everyone has one and worth as much.
....that's called diversionary tactics, and probably means that you're on the ropes! :)

Training, examination, insurance and licensing would be a great idea.

10,000 Kids Are Injured Or Killed By Guns Each Year In The U.S. ...
thinkprogress.org/.../2014/.../kids-gun-violence-killed-injuries/
27 Jan 2014 ... Twice as many kids are killed by guns than by cancer. ... by Tara Culp-Ressler
Jan 27, 2014 9:00 am ... Doctors are pointing to the new data as further evidence
of the serious public health toll that gun violence takes on America's youth. ... An
additional 2,149 were accidents, and 270 were suicide attempts.
Look at how many kids get hurt through gun ignorance. (below).
Now, a Firearms Officer visit m,ight be able to advise to stop some of these.
Not so silly.

Finally a post not made from pure emotion but one with statistics to back up
a claim.
I appreciate that.

Here: I googled up even more stats fer ya.
According to the study, more than 7,000 kids visit the emergency room annually, or about 20 each day, due to gun-related injuries and another 3,000 die before they ever even make it to the hospital. The majority – about half — of those injuries and deaths are the result of assault, while less than 25 percent are due to accidents and under 300 cases – less than 3 percent — are ruled to be from attempted suicide.

The study seems fairly consistent with prior studies, which have previously put the annual firearm mortality rate in American youth about 3,000.

Researchers at Cohen Children's Medical Center in New York say there are more than 3,000 teen deaths nationwide each year from texting and at least 300,000 injuries.

America needs to look outwards instead of looking inwards. What has worked for other countries?

Apples to oranges again with nothing to back up anything said.
The U.S. is UNLIKE any other country in that U.S. citizens are ALL immigrants
from somewhere else except for Native Americans which we ain't.
What "other countries" and what is the heritage and do those countries have
anything like our 2nd Amendment.
Every nation derives meaning and purpose from some unifying quality—an ethnic character, a common religion, a shared history. The United States is different. America was founded at a particular time, by a particular people, on the basis of particular principles about man, liberty, and constitutional government.

Want more statistics?
Nearly a million children worldwide die every year as a result of unintentional injuries, and the biggest killer is traffic accidents, according to a report from the World Health Organization.

How can anyone legitimately compare the U.S. with any other country?

Thank gawd our country isn't like other countries.

Post facts please?

As an aside I've been shot at and it has a pucker factor of TEN!
Cheeks slam shut so tight one couldn't get a greased bee-bee up it!
I was AFRAID and not one bit backwards about saying so.
For various solid reasons I didn't return fire and darned glad of it.
Obviously I take killing another human very serious indeed.
But now a retired, crippled, sick guy, if messed with I'll sure as heck react.
Mess with my loved ones or ANY innocent and I'll spring into action with a terrible
resolve.

Anyone who's gained such expertise about greased beebees must've indeed led a difficult life.

What? Me worry?
Exactly, which is why the first thing one should do to guarantee such safety is to dispose of all firearms in ones possession as soon as possible.
Granted I live in the UK, things are a little different here.

I will gladly give up my firearm(s) if you can guarantee it (they) will be the last ones on the pile.

Fuuuuny!

That's not fair! He's funny, but I'm silly!
You mentioned that judges can order guns to be melted. Over here traffic cops can seize cars, on the spot, if insurance, tax or safety test is not current. Data base checks are so fast now. It's a great idea. Further to that, licensing officials drive along streets with anpr scanners and any motor which is not licensed gets clamper, on the spot. In this way we are slowly getting high liability motors off the roads.
What the US could do is empower cops to seize unlicensed, uninsured, illegal guns. There is a ten day period for any appeals and then.....crunch!

But you would gladly change a banned gun for a legal one, if the people vote to get rid of fast firing rifles, yes?
There must is no reason for most folks to have a fast fire AR-15, is there?

You live in England where the citizens aren't trusted even with knives.

The U.S. has gun culture and a 2nd Amendment as a result of the WAR with
an oppressive government.
That Government was established by Colonial England.

Awwwww, so soon we forget our culture, heritage and history.
The worlds premier racists were the Colonial Brits.
http://newbritishempire.site11.com/british-racism.html See below.
A report published by the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) calls upon the UK to “address the hostile climate concerning asylum seekers and refugees.” The report published April 3 was adopted on June 16 2000 and follows a report which described Britain as the most hostile European nation towards political refugees. The executive summary of the ECRI report says that while certain legal changes were made in the aftermath of the 1993 racist killing of black teenager Stephen Lawrence, “Problems of xenophobia, racism and discrimination, however, persist and are particularly acute vis-à-vis asylum seekers and refugees.”

Perhaps some people not familiar with the U.S. Constitution shouldn't judge our culture.
Perhaps not familiar with their OWN culture shouldn't condemn other cultures.
"Contempt prior to investigation."
"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance—that principle is contempt prior to investigation.' Herbert Spencer.

"
everlasting ignorance"

Get that?

British involvement in the transatlantic slave trade was, until very recently, a subject often brushed under the carpet. The idea of thousands of African slaves passing through British ports in abject conditions remains unpalatable to most but, according to James Walvin, professor emeritus of history at the University of York, the fact remains that the Caribbean and north African slave trade of the 18th century was effectively a British creation.

Still want to condemn and point fingers at the U.S. of A.?
Having a bit of trouble with a real FREE country are ya?

Many have presented this idea, do you think it will work? A $100 billion dollar bill is being needed to make sure people who can't afford guns get a subsidy to make sure they can go buy a gun. The only requirements is to pass a background check.

If you have no criminal history, you qualify. We can't take any chances and we've seen all too often that there isn't a good guy with a gun to stop the bad guy. This will fix that. Additionally, crime rates will drop tremendously due to more good guys outnumbering the bad.

Should this bill pass?
doesn't Switzerland require a firearm in every household?

Sure there is. I enjoy a fine piece of machinery.
Sure there is. those Whistle Pigs are really fast movers
Sure there is. You can't participate in competitions where a AR-15 type firearm is used if you don't have one.
Oh by the way, I'm not sure if you know all semi-automatic pistols and rifles fire are "fast firing"(at least what you might consider fast firing.

Same scenario. Although I do not own the type of weapons you seem so afraid of (although I did pass up a chance to buy an Uzi), it, also, would have be on top of the pile. BTW why not have a campaign against over powered cars. More people are killed by speed than bullets.

I kinda thought these forums were for DEBATE, not groundless opinions.

Small detail this, but he instructs people to turn the other cheek. He is the 'god of love' after all. In the old testament several times it refers to turning swords into plowshares.

On the other hand the god of the old testament was a violent tyrant who ordered mass genocide multiple times. So calling on him as the arbiter of all things violent could go either way.
