Trump Assassination Attempt

Fifteen bucks from a kid who decides to contribute to a blue party candidate. Yeah yeah, I know he ended up registering as a republican but man ... a $15 donation from a kid is pretty amazing in and of itself. At 17 years old, I was scraping up beer money (hush hush) or putting it in my gas tank. Selfish me and this kid ends up taking a shot at a presidential candidate.

What's this world coming to?

In any case, it would have been a legal donation unless someone put him up to it and given him the $15, which would have been 1. viewed as a favorable publicity stunt or 2. aimed to discredit a candidate's campaign.

As an FYI, most rural citizens register according to the majority of their county, regardless of national platform preference, so that they can have a greater imput on local elections. My locality is a blue county in a red state and filled to the brim with Democrat registered MAGAs.

I wonder if it ever a good idea to truly "pick sides" then pick up the banner. I don't recall holding any position so strongly that I'm unwilling to hear the other side before casting a vote. On one hand I'm liberal minded and progressive, on the other I'm more conservative but at the end of the day I'm always looking for the best route and people for the job. Some don't play so undividedly, which makes citizenship more appealing as a one sider, but yeah ... Some register a certain way for the primary play - for or against. That's politics and a not unknown strategic play to sway the odds.

It would be better to go forward discussing the issues rather than make this a mudslinging contest based on fear and hate.

The problem is the DNC will be a train wreck if they had to stick to the issues. The DNC has done some good things, but only for their own. Very few if any things benefited all citizens. Open borders may have been good for the illegal immigrants and all the criminals; drugs and human traffickers, spies and terrorists, that came along. It may have been good for the Chamber of Commerce and Big Business; cheap labor. It may have been good even the DNC leadership and donors, but it caused hardship for border states and many US citizens including Democrats and minorities, when they got a small share of the disaster, their leaders created, bussed to their states.

Biden added obstructions to the fossil fuel industry rather than just give green energy a boost via a free economy. This was good for the electric and green companies, who also got tax payer supplements. It was good for the rich Democrats who could afford electric cars and also get a tax rebate. It was good for the Big Brother regulatory state, and made the DNC donors more generous. But it screwed the middle class, with higher energy and food costs. It resulted in persistent inflation that caused the Fed to increase interest rates. That now impacts the home buyers and caused the interest on the national debt to exceed even military spending. The US Government now gets the tax payers a -22.7% rate of return.

The DNC does not wish to be rational and compare the impact of its policies with the ideas of Trump. They would prefer keep this at the level of base emotions, where reason is limited and fear and hate is the name of their game.

When I was watching the Trump rally yesterday, and the gun fire broke out, I noticed the audience did not stampede out of fear or bust up the house due to rage. People ducked while under fire, after that it all seemed very orderly and calm, even as Secret Service moved President Trump. This is indicative of the average Trump voter. This was a not an Antifa Rally, or the image given by the fake news/propaganda wing of DNC. Those calm and concerned people are the people who the DNC say are the threat to Democracy?

As I pointed out above, minors can contribute to political campaigns, especially 17-year-olds. That contribution happened in 2021 on inauguration day, so it probably wasn't someone beginning to plan an assassination attempt at a Trump rally in 2024. Thomas Crooks registered as a Republican voter after that contribution was made. His father bought the gun much more recently. He was wearing a T-shirt from an extremist pro-gun YouTube channel during the shooting. So it doesn't look like this can be spun as an attack from a leftist terrorist, as claimed earlier in this thread, or inspired by Biden's rhetoric, as claimed by Republican politicians before the shooter was identified.

I agreed with the legality of the minor donation, but I think it premature to point partisan fingers at opponents. I have read about explosive devices being located in the kids car and possibly one in his home since the incident, but I'm usure how this might be spun by the media if at all. It does appear to be adding to our divisiveness, though. I'm standing on the home front for the time being and trying not to point.

I agree with your post, but I wasn't in total disagreement with the border decision. I knew it had to get done and it may have been more beneficial than some anticipated that they were opened for that short duration. The issues I'm seeing now involves voter intimidation and increased partisan division curtesy of our resident mudslingers and "I have a cause'ers" who have picked up a personal banner against this that or something else and joined together with those likeminded. The real issues get side tracked while we whoop and holler about our causes and make efforts to undermine those who don't stand with the causes themselves. Distractions have become commonplace, and the issues go unaddressed by "we" who need to pay attention. "We", being "we the people" who really need to pay more attention to what's going on in both this nation and the world.

My opinion is the shooter was suicidal and wanted to go out in a blaze of glory unfortunately.

The donation could have been from a bet--loser donates to the winner's candidate.

Serious question: Am I in denial?

Are we as a nation truly so divided that we as citizens are involving ourselves in these types of severe and dirty political moves to prevent a candidate, we're not in favor of from being elected? The rhetoric is wide-spread, and the propaganda machine is being utilized all across the country. I know civil type war concerns are present, but is this the reality of our current affairs as a nation? We sometimes seem so divided I'm unsure if we'll ever be able to stand together as a nation against greater threats. I ask because I've been very optimistic about this, but I'm beginning to wonder ... I've been second guessing my optimism a little lately. Is my optimistic stance a denial of our reality?

You are not in denial. I think the polarization is a way to keep all the voters on the 2 party reservation and keep them from voting 3rd party, as well a being a means to raise funds.
