The electoral college made a bit more sense when we did not have instantaneous communication, but ever since the Telegraph was well developed it has been out of date.

Isn't that the reason all mug shots are taken? Or at least why they are released to the press.

The original purpose was so victims could identify the person.

It is still procedure. Why should Trump be treated any differently than any other person that has been arrested for a crime? I am sure that they fingerprinted him too.

I see that you do not understand what the term "arrested for a crime" means. An arrest has to precede a trial. There is no need to use the word "alleged" when one explains why someone was arrested. It is redundant.
