Not necessarily. I waste time on things that are entertaining. Just means it is not necessarily productive time.Wastage of time = LOSS.
Actually you totally missed to understand what I want to convey with my OP, Neither am making any kind of prediction.
Perhaps, you don't want to waste your expensive time, because you didn't find NO sufficient evidence for.
Isn't the wastage of time a LOSS ?
Isn't that you want to save your precious time ? isn't saving precious time equal to PROFIT ?
Why NOT ?
If I have invested my precious time doing that verification.
Believer in a spherical earth?
A student got good marks from science teacher in exams. Isn't that a PROFIT ?
I don't understand what made you to use the word "Entertaining" equal to "Wastage of time"Not necessarily. I waste time on things that are entertaining. Just means it is not necessarily productive time.
No am NOT interested in doing predictions, and that because I find LOSS in making predictions because I very well know that my predictions are based on nothing. When you do your calculations are you not making a prediction of profit or loss?
Then I guess, you want to LEARN, and you verify that to make it sure.Nope... if my concern was my 'precious time' then I wouldn't bother wasting any of it attempting to verify anything... I'd simply accept it all on face value.
Yes this true.Again, "you may receive some benefit from your belief" does not imply "you came to this belief because you calculated the benefit."
Giving preference to something that is likely to be a "Reality" is always PROFITABLE. Preferably, because NO LOSS is expected in that.Reality is NOT preferential!
Profit does not matter to existence.
Atheism is the sense that no God exists based on observing reality.
So it's the truth of the matter vs. the preferences one has.
Mock Turtle, gave you PROFIT on this postHe's a nervous sort, and doesn't want anyone sneaking up on him.
I don't what made you to use the word "Entertaining" equal to "Wastage of time"
You were entertained, you got your price.
Entertainment gives us energy for another day on Job/Work.
No am NOT interested in doing predictions, and that because I find LOSS in making predictions because I very well know that my predictions are based on nothing.
But, on the other hand I do like making guesses based on my observations and experiences. Yes, even my guesses also get untrue, but, NOT all of them.
And, of course I find PROFIT in making guesses because I think.. the more I make, the more I learn.
Our current president may think this way, but I don't. Caring for others is a big incentive to not cause suffering to others.Murderer becomes a Murderer after CALCULATING the Profit & Loss of being a Murderer.
Both evil and good dwells within each person. Our current president may think this way, but I don't. Caring for others is a big incentive to not cause suffering to others.
I don't think there are such things as evil and good except as abstract philosophical concepts. Suffering is the key thing; whether you inflict suffering upon other conscious creatures. Both evil and good dwells within each person.
Do you mean that the brain processes that lead to behavior and consciousness are calculations of the neural network of the brain? Certainly they are the result of the functioning of the brain, whether it is technically calculation or not -- who knows?CALCULATIONS
Atheist becomes an Atheist after CALCULATING the Profit & Loss of being an Atheist.
Theist becomes a Theist after CALCULATING the Profit & Loss of being a Theist.
What CALCULATIONS makes you an ATHEIST ?
It's quite understood that there might be some kind of PROFIT that you have seen in becoming an atheist. What is that ? I want to learn from you.
Friend, you yourself told me the profit and asking.. where is the profit ?Nothing........ chinu.
There is no profit in being atheist.
There was no calculation before self-discovery, either.
As I researched, investigated, lived, I came to the belief that God was so huge that this small planet and everything on it was not even of notice........ so I came to the conclusion that I am not a Theist.
So I am a non-Theist, a Deist........ almost an atheist, but those bloomin' atheists won't let me join their club.
Where's the profit for me? Atheists won't let me in their club, and Theists won't let me in their club. And Deism covers such a huge variety of mindsets that most Deists could think I'm nuts as well.
Chinu........... where is the bloomin' profit??? !!!
No.Friend, you yourself told me the profit and asking.. where is the profit ?
You said.. "I came to the belief that God was so huge that this small planet and everything on it was not even of notice".
You are saving your time NOT going to church, perhaps by giving this excuse ?
Isn't saving this time a profit for you ?
But, that day I visited this one aloneNo.
Discoveries are not excuses, just discoveries.
And sometimes I do go to churches, and to church meetings.
Well well!!
