What flavor Christian are YOU?

Thanks but no thanks. Been there, done that. ;) (Tell Beth she never responded to my last post on her thread.)

Ultra, how can one be an occultic Christ-follower?

what's occultic about the Holy Spirit, crying "Abba, Father", and loving one's enemies?

Occultic = Hidden

Hidden Meaning. Hidden Message.
Hidden truth/flavor revealed only to those who seek
beyond the written flavor label on the cardboard carton scroll.
The experience of tasting for yourSelf...
digging in deep with your spoon to see what you will find there...
For eyes that see... tongues that taste... and hearts that laugh/rejoice.

Parables are Occultic. Life itself is a Living parable.

Simply put ... "Occultic" means I'm a "non literalist" christian
(and of course, a non literalist in general)
who Tastes... and Sees... and Touches for herSelf ....
with no other teacher than the Wholly Spirit withIN.
I let NO MAN interpret Life for me.
Word itself is a multi-layered/multi-teired/multi dimentional fountain.

I like to dig in real deep... and find ... well... deeper meanings...
deeper in-sights. And drink deeply.

The flavor of Spirit for me is Water.
That one, actually, for me, is 98% literal.

Hope that answers your question about my flavor ayani.

so....

do you believe that Jesus of Nazareth described in the Gospel narratives is a real Person who truly did those things the Gospels describe, and whom God wants us to know and follow?

....

do you believe Y'shua said the words "Father may they be One with you, as you and I are One" ?

I rather sense that your flavor is "real" ;) like CP's. :D

i do.

yet i believe that Jesus is talking less about mystical union, but rather the reunification between us and God possible only through baptism in the Holy Spirit.

i also believe that Jesus was crucified and rose bodily from the dead, and that these events are significant, and central.

the oneness Jesus speaks of is not a general, mystical "merging of the self with God" but having the freedom to call God "Abba, Father", to realize how unlike God and far from approaching His glory we are, yet how near He comes to us through Jesus and in Jesus. it's realizing that He is holy, we are sinful, yet He loves us and wants to hear from us daily, and let Him into our lives hour by hour.

Ok honey. That's your flavor then. Weather you want to give it a name, or not.

Thank you for having participated.

That would be a gnostic flavor. Correct?
What is the texture/consistancy of your 'Thomas' flavor?
Why does that flavor stand out to you above the rest?
What color is it?
Do you like to blend other gnostic flavors or "toppings"
to your more solid flavor?
I've only been sipping Vi - my mind is still open - the Thomas flavour seems good but the consistency is a little light, I think it needs something added.
The flavour stands out because it's not just sweet but it has an intriguing quality to it. Not only did I need to blend other gnostic flavours I needed to dilute the Christian one. It was a little sour on it's own. From a perusal of the shelf there appear to be several other middle-eastern spices that offer the kick I'm after.

Bedlam

Improperly Undefined
You may be any flavor you choose Bedlam,
but you must be prepared to explain your flavor a bit,
and what makes it your CHRISTIAN flavor.

(note that I purposely did NOT put this in the "jokes" section of the forum.)

Many of us that were raised Christian, upon reaching the age of maturity, found ourselves furious with the idea that we were being taught "lies" for all of our childhood lives. While meant in jest, my comment is also a deep reflection of what I feel about myself.

When I renounced Christianity, did that mean I was embracing a life of sin? Don't I owe at least something to my parents for bringing me up within the church? And how could I possibly denigrate to my own birthright, especially if it means I'm insulting my own ancestors?

I believe in life, love, friendship, and the future. The difference between me and most Christians is that I believe you can find all of those things under any rock you turn over, as long as you know what to look for.

Christians seem to think you need the Bible for that. My happiness is not defined by any scriptures. I enjoy life, and I enjoy drugs of my choosing (which happen to include alcohol), not because they are evil, but because they are part of the human condition.

If Jesus turned water to wine, then how could a Christian condemn it as evil?

Don't get me wrong. Abusing any substance is a terrible thing. But it's not the substance that is evil. Drowning yourself in the scriptures is just as awful. No matter what you claim to believe or how you were raised, one thing remains true. Life is far more interesting when you live it, instead of running away from it.

Soooo... Methodist with a slice of lime.

Awwwww.... you be Bourbon honey. :beach:
Really we do each choose our own flavor/s anyway.
(to suit our personal liking.)

Happiness indeed can be found anywhere.
Out from rock and in New wine carraffes.

Thanks for sharing about your flavor with us.

Gnostic flavored... it sounds gross, but it's actually quite tasty when prepared correctly :D

Really .... it does. haha!:p

How does one go about preparing it correctly Buttons?
Is it more of an ice cream flavor? or a liquor?

Or maybe.....
a "hard candy with a suprise center" perhaps?
*thinks Katy Perry* lol
A box of Gnosis Candy. Now that sounds like some good mystic fun!
(or perhaps it's a bit more occultic...... )

So enlighten us darling! ;) Share with us the taste of gnosis! :D

sojourner

Annoyingly Progressive Since 2006
there's a certain amount (a good deal, actually) of respect, reverence, humility, and gratitude which goes into a relationship with God via Christ. i wouldn't say it lends itself to be compared to a flavor or spice.
"You are the salt of the earth. If the salt has lost its tang, what good is it?"

You my friend... are a connoisseur of 'finer' and more delicate nuance.

I do believe your flavor is that of New Wine!

for example...

CP's flavor is "real"
My flavor is "Occultic"
Katz is an "LDS" flavored Christian.

So....... what flavor Christian are you? ;)

Ben and Jerry Christian. Never content with the existing flavors, and always trying to bring something new in the serving cooler. Will throw out bad flavors, or flavors that just don't make much sense.
I think trying my flavors in the real world, with real human experience, and then take the feedback and develop more flavors.
Ultimately looking for the origins of Ice Cream, so I can sit in a big batch of it and eat for eternity. :)

Thank you for sharing, itWillEnd.

I'm rather an "all flavors to all men" kinda girl mySelf,
(hehehe... no really!)
though that's kind of a different swirl.

I think New flavors are great!
(if you're a skilled blender that is)
Sounds like you're a "custom" blender in the making to me. :)

Ahhhh Baskin' by the soda fountain shores of the infinite flavor Source...:beach:

Your name isn't Robin... is it? ;)

Well with all this talk about:
  • creation vs evolution
  • christian vs islam
  • or x thought vs y thought
  • cherry ice cream vs banana flavor
One can't help but see the bigger picture. You my sweetheart are going to die. Could be in the next 2 seconds. Could be in twenty years. We just don't know! :) Right?
So, while we give everything we have to loving those we can love, I think we would be stupid to not keep looking for the original ice cream shop. I love the ice cream I have SO MUCH and I don't want it to just melt away, so I keep looking. :162:

I have died before honey.
I am a whole New flavor now.

It's just a matter of realizing/REALizing it
and inheriting your place in the kingdom. Now.

The ice cream shop is here.
Right where you are. Right now. :rainbow1:

REALize it!

Great way to think, I really admire it. I just know right before I die, that wouldn't be good enough for me :)

I would love to hear how you personally developed in life to come to this conclusion. If that is something for a private topic I understand. I am not sure how that relates to this thread. I am not particularly interested in "what" you believe, but your life story and how you ended up with that belief.
