What Happens When You Die?

Not necessarily in harmony.

True. It is that Oneness which lies between that percieved duality of harmony and disharmony. That is where that interaction takes place. So you are correct, there is neither harmony, nor is there disharmony, those are only false perceptions we create with our minds. There is only Oneness. Good on you for pointing that out.

Harmony?...this world or the next?

We know war in this world.
I've heard of war in the next.

Angels are displayed with sword in hand.

No one knows anything about 'this world or the next'. All we know for certain is that there is this world. If you cannot realize harmony in this world, how do you expect to realize it in any other? There is not you and the world; you ARE the world. So harmony begins with you.

I acknowledge that there are differences, but compared to Brahman, they are still superficial. Form and pain are temporal, but Brahman is eternal, beyond form, beyond pain and pleasure.

Willa has pointed out that there cannot be any comparison. Yes. As per Hindu gurus, one either sees brahman or sees the world.

I hold that only a sage (abiding as brahman/realised being/God) can talk of the subject of the OP with clarity. And then the thread will not meander endlessly (without even a single agreement amongst the posters).

Does it not surprise you that although most posters in this thread are spiritual, there is no agreement in this thread ? You can see the same pattern in threads such 'Supremacy ....' or 'Only truth is ......'.

Brahman/God realised will be silent, IMO.

My original point, using the wave/ocean metaphor, was that the wave is none other than the ocean itself, as illustration that there is no difference between Brahman and maya. It was you who objected.

And yet, a true sage will think of himself as 'Nothing Special'.

When a sage gains understanding, he becomes an ordinary man'

Again. That is not my point.

Negating the terms of a discussion doesn't win the discussion.

Duality is forever.

Looking away from the obvious won't make it go away.

The next life will happen.
I believe it.

Some of this carries over.....and so the angels carry swords.
(they've been displayed that way for a very long time)

Good luck.

Duality is forever.

The only reason you want duality to exist forever is because it includes Heaven, that imaginary afterlife your ego cherishes so highly, that it may forever be stroked, adored, and worshipped.

"All Hail the Thief....er...Chief...Our Protector and Vanquisher of all Lurking Malevolent Evil!"

We may even be able to pickle it in formaldehyde, as a tribute to posterity.

None of this is known as real. It is only your imagination, no more real than the Land of Oz.

So do you fancy yourself 'Swordmaker to the Angels', that you might be 'worthy' of salvation? Careful. I hear St. Michael's favorite is to impale admitted Nun Seducers.

You might suffice as court jester.

Heaven has no use for such relics. We now use holey laser technology. If you have no other transferrable skills, you are dismissed. You may join the other Nun Seducers in Section B, Block 666. St. Michael will be your impaler...er...guide. :D

(Then, of course, if you prefer, there is the Self-Impaling Department. No muss; no fuss.)

This notice issued by the Office of the Court Jester, thank you very much. :jester3:

Like I said, there is no right or wrong way so there is no winning or losing.

Whatever floats your boat or whatever works for you at this time, go with it.

Different strokes for different folks.

?.. there is no difference between Brahman and maya. It was you who objected.

If there is no difference between Brahman and mAyA, then why are you straining?

That Brahman and mAyA are two different conceptions, two different words, indicate that they are not same. mAyA is an effect. Brahman is Sat.

I am really amazed that you are bent upon changing the meanings of Brahman and Maya.

Forget the words. Who cares? There is a truth beyond words...beyond Brahman or Maya...beyond conception.

"The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao."

After you die....that's the question !
You won't care about Brahman or maya or any mytholigical set of beliefs,
YOU WILL BE DEAD.....ALL THOSE SUPPOSITIONS WILL BE OVER...YOU WILL BE DEAD !
There's only one real question...have you been good or bad...what memories will you leave behind.
There are other mytholigies...heaven, hell, pergutory(sic), burial, or burning.
Of course the "spirit", gnosis, leaves the body, or I'm told that.
You all can believe all of that crap if want to, but you'll be just memories to someone else.
Said it before...said it again...memories.
