What has Sarah Palin actually done?

Vile Atheist

I am not arguing anything. I'm just curious to see where you get your statistics from. I'm just wondering how anyone can quantify "promiscuity" or "strong marital relations".

Okay kids, a little shocked you guys didn't know who that is. It's not Sarah Palin, but Porn Star Lisa Ann from the Parody Movie: Who's Nailin Paylin. Brought out by Larry Flynt and Hustler.

This was really Big News when it happened.

Young Turks talked about this on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSbVqQShI0E

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Oh...but can you then imagine the debates with Obama she'll have?...I mean it will be more entertaining than most of the crappy reality TV shows on now....At every debate..I'd be in front of the TV with my popcorn popped just waiting for that idiot to open her mouth...

Which idiot? Better hope the teleprompter doesn't have technical problems!

But yes, I agree - the debate would be entertaining - for a few minutes. But both of them are so longwinded, the entertainment factor would fade quickly.

I never heard two people more able to string together so many words without really saying anything.

"Well, guys, I've got great news for you - you won't be deploying overseas to help out your buddies after all! I've dragged my feet about actually committing to more troops so long that the media has moved on to other topics! Pretty slick, huh? Aren't you glad I know more about the needs of our military than all those crazy *** generals?"

Then you must have been on some euphoric high during the reign of King Bush......:sarcastic

I really don't get the way people pounce on Obama's use of a teleprompter. Reagan used them, and Bush used them and still came out sounding like a halfwit.

You're kidding, right? You do know the military serves the civilian government in America, rather than the civilian government serves the military, right? I mean, we're not really a third world military dictatorship yet, are we?

Hi Contentius,

I am not arguing anything. I'm just curious to see where you get your statistics from. I'm just wondering how anyone can quantify "promiscuity" or "strong marital relations".

I'm just making the rather uncontroversial point that monogamy and promiscuity are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. And birth control has spawned more promiscuity.

Hi Contentius,

Incorrect.

1.) Monogamy frequently involves primiscuity, unless both partners are faithful (which they rarely are, both now and in the past, people have generally cheated on their spouses).

2.) More importantly, birth control does not spawn promiscuity. Promiscuity and the use of birth control are both symptoms of the same problem - a culture that is obsessed with sexual pleasure. If I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying that we should remove birth control because it spawns more promiscuity - it does not. People will have sex regardless of how safe it is. Making it less safe in an attempt to make them stop will only cause more problems. Why do you think America has a much higher teen birth rate than any other Western country, despite the fact that we've been teaching abstinence and discouraging the use of birth control? Perhaps discouraging the use of birth control was a bad idea?
If you want to change the fact that our culture is promiscuous, you have to attack it at the root. Birth control is not the root.

Hi Mestemia,

what is your source for this belief?

I don't have some formal study at the moment but are you arguing that sexual activity has decreased since the widespread use of birth control?

I have made no argument.
I am merely wanting to know the source of your claim.

Thus far you have not presented any source.
In fact, you seem to be trying to divert attention from that fact.

Actually, by definition if a person is practicing monogamy then they cannot be promiscuous and vice versa.

Birth control is one of the perfect tools for promiscuity for it promises the sexual pleasure of multiple partners without that nasty distraction of having a child.

I think it is common sense. And there is no way you can make the argument that with the widespread use of birth control sexual activity with multiple partners has decreased.

Hi Mestemia,

Who said it has decreased. It has to have increased for you to be right. I think it's pretty far-fetched to think that sexual activity has increased per capita over the last several decades. I'd say it's right where it was 50 years ago, a hundred years ago and 800 years ago. We just talk about it more now.

Besides, what's wrong with people having sex more? It's fun and it makes people happy.

so in a nutshell you are merely trying to present your opinion as fact?
That you do not have a shred of evidence to back up your claim?
That you are merely presenting that which you think helps your argument without actually doing any research on the matter?

For someone who does not hesitate to accuse others of not looking at the evidence....

Facts on American Teens' Sexual and Reproductive Health

CONTRACEPTIVE USE

•A sexually active teen who does not use contraceptives has a 90% chance of becoming pregnant within a year.

•The majority of sexually experienced teens (74% of females and 82% of males) used contraceptives the first time they had sex.

•The condom is the most common contraceptive method used at first intercourse; it was used by 66% of sexually experienced females and 71% of males.

•Nearly all sexually active females (98% in 2002) have used at least one method of birth control. The most common methods used are the condom (used at least once by 94%) and the pill (used at least once by 61%).

•Nearly one-quarter of teens who used contraceptives the last time they had sex combined two methods, primarily the condom and a hormonal method.

•At most recent sex, 83% of teen females and 91% of teen males used contraceptives. These proportions represent a marked improvement since 1995, when only 71% of teen females and 82% of teen males had used a contraceptive method at last sex.
