But, haven't we still got the 12-mile limit for our ships - weren't licences issued? Then the UK fishermen sold them on, to Italians, poles, etc

Maybe some did, but only on retirement to best bidders, I'm guessing. Brit boats are still struggling on out of my home port.

I only mentioned fishing as one tiny segment in our 'cake', fishing restrictions are massively heavy due to irresponsible fishing 30 years ago. But we do need to push the foreign boats away. A 12 mile limit is not dreadful, but maybe we can push it firther out?

I'm not keen on dealing with China either especially a nuclear power plant.
Glad to hear it. It needs raising because it's a form of idiocy. Just discovered that my local GP surgery has been bought out by a private firm. A Chinese firm no less.

As for our assets they were sold off long ago,the list you gave is OK but think about this, the eu funding comes from the money we've paid in and I'll bet the amount isn't the same so it's not like we're getting it free.
It started with Thatcher, that's true. The EU money is a kind of rebate but the deprived regions at least get it. Membership of the largest trade block as an equal partner also has advantages too. Outside of the EU we're not equal to anyone.

Some reasons I've heard spouted by my friends:
'To save the NHS' - Based on the lie from Brexiteers about extra money for the health service. The NHS actually benefits from EU membership (nurses, doctors, cleaners) rather than suffers
Wot?
In recent visits to the NHS my radiographer was Iranian, the Doctor was Nigerian, the Nurse (BP and stuff) was Russian!
And if any qualified meds from Europe want work, we'll employ 'em.
Brexit's fine!
'I don't like the French' - Ignorance and bigotry
Hang on! The French don't like us............ they are the bigots and ignorant ones. We're lovely p*ssycats here!
'Dunno. Everyone's doing it' - Ignorance again
So, the answer to your question seems to be a mixture of bigotry and ignornce
Tough cookie! :p
WE Brexit fans think that it was ignorant and daft to be in that messed up, bureacratic, top-heavy, corrupted mess.
But we're mostly not bigoted because we live in a cosmopolitan multi-cultural country and once we're clear of the EU we can focus more closely on intyernal positive advancement.

But if Scotland would like to remain in the EU then it should have the right to hold referendum on that.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, it is a slippy slope. My constituency (A Tory stronghold) voted Remain; Manchester voted Remain. So along with Scotland can we stay in the EU.

Illustrating our reliance on migratory workers.

If they'll come, what with the end to freedom of movement. They'll be more likely to work in Germany, France, Italy, Spain etc. than isolationist England

Do you really believe that?

And Northern Ireland too?
What about London?
What about those with higher levels of education?
What about the under 40s?

These, and many other groups, voted to remain in the EU. Can we all have another referendum on staying in the EU please? If Brexit is as good as you think, you'll get at least 60% of the vote won't you? Then all us who want to stay in the EU will shut up.

Shock, horror! The wealthy pay more than the poor!
The same is true of income tax. Are you suggesting that Britain's poor are not equal to our wealthy?

It is about time that the taxes that we collect are spent on us. Britain’s poor would benefit from that.

A good proportion of those raised taxes come from EU migrants working in Britain.
They contribute billions to our economy and, when you get your way and they have to leave, the amount of taxes we have to spend will be considerably less.
In case you were going to say that we won't have to spend as much, EU workers add an average of £1.40 to our economy for every £1 they take out of it.

The limits are international not granted by the EU.

Hey, stop giving out facts!! We can't have the truth about Johnny Foreigner messing up a good story about taking all our jobs.
Next thing, you'll be telling me the £350m was a lie.

Wot! Scotland won't want a load of Mancunians on board! What happens to the football side?
There must be loads of Brexits in Manchester-Liverpool, after all, both are connected to the Atlantic and the Americas.
Next election could make a difference?

Oh they will come if we need them!
They come from all over the World!
Youi're just shortsighted about how desperately important you think European nurses are!

Do you really believe that?
More serriously, France is very cool towards us. In rural areas they are very aggressive towards some Brits who have tried to take root out there. I know because a friend bought a small hotel in the countryside and the frenchies isiolated them as 'foreigners'.
It's time for you to get real. France would give us nothing. NO THING!

And Northern Ireland too?
If the Northern Irelanders wanted to join back with the Republic, and thus stay in the EU, fair enough, but you're educated............ do you really believe that they would want to leave the UK? Think about it.

What about London?
Tough luck on London.

What about those with higher levels of education?
If any who think that they are so important and indispensable, and above living in a free Britain, that they want to emigrate, then they can s*d off for my vote.
Will you be leaving? :D

What about the under 40s?
Anybody who wants to leave can do so.

These, and many other groups, voted to remain in the EU. Can we all have another referendum on staying in the EU please? If Brexit is as good as you think, you'll get at least 60% of the vote won't you? Then all us who want to stay in the EU will shut up.
You can hold hands with Mr Farage, then. Now he may well have found himself to be in a political backwater, his career stalled somewhat, and so he would LOVE to re-start this whiole business, all over again.
If there is a re-run, then so be it, but since you want a 60% vote for or against we may be in the political doldrums, revoting, for ever.

Do stop whining. If such highly educated folks as you canmnot find benefits and resources either way then you just can't be as bright as you think, maybe?
:p

Yes.
But the fishing limits are strange. Didn't Iceland win a 50 mile limit and keep it?

Do you remember those little Icelandic gunboats? Solid little brutes could rip a frigate up dreadfully.
I remember that one trawler would not heave-to when ordered and the icelanders shot several rounds through her bows.

Tell that to the farmers here in Lincolnshire who are struggling to get workers to pick their crops now that Brexit is rearing its ugly head

Oh they will come if we need them!
The numbers are already falling

They come from all over the World!
They do, but not to pick veg. Who will do that now?

Youi're just shortsighted about how desperately important you think European nurses are!
I think they are very important. NHS Digital, the agency that collects data on the health service, found that in the 12 months following the referendum, 9,832 EU doctors, nurses and support staff had left the UK.
To replace them we can rely on non-EU migrants you say? Isn't that replacing immigration with immigration? I thought Brexiteers wanted less immigration?

If the Northern Irelanders wanted to join back with the Republic, and thus stay in the EU, fair enough, but you're educated............ do you really believe that they would want to leave the UK? Think about it.
If I was from Ulster then I'd want to leave the UK. I can't speak for them though.

Tough luck on London.
And tough luck on the rest of the UK too.

If any who think that they are so important and indispensable, and above living in a free Britain, that they want to emigrate, then they can s*d off for my vote.
Why should we leave? Aren't we free to campaign to stay in the EU, or is aall your talk of freedom only fro Brexiteers?

Will you be leaving? :D
No. I shall do my utmost to keep my country in the EU where it, and its citizens, are better off.

You can hold hands with Mr Farage, then.
The very prospect makes me shudder

Do stop whining.
Did you say that to UKIPPERS when they called for a referendum?

If such highly educated folks as you canmnot find benefits and resources either way then you just can't be as bright as you think, maybe?
:p
I'm not highly educated - I left school at 16.

I know a leek grower that employs Polish workers. He bought the bungalow next door so that they have somewhere to live instead of having to live in caravans. These seasonal workers return home when the season is over.

I can’t see our independent government putting a stop to that after Brexit.

I can - the anti-immigration brigade will not stand for it.
Besides which, there is a shortage of labour now. It's been dropping off ever since the referendum and will only get worse if the unimaginable happens and we actually do leave the EU

The anti-immigration brigade is not running the country and will not be doing so after we leave.
