Buddhist, follower of the Dharma.
If you wouldn't mind, could you elaborate on who is Dharma and the doctrine of a Buddhist?

I chose atheism/agnosticism. One day it's the one, another day the other. I don't really believe in anything. I don't believe in humanity, my faith in that is minimal, so a deity to create humanity is a ridiculous idea to me. I've never felt the need for a god. I've lived my live fine through all that's happened (and some of it has been easy, some very difficult) without believing in anything other than myself. Things will happen, no matter what I do about it. In a way, that would be nihilism, only that sounds too strong a term for what I believe. I'm emotional, hate it when something happens to even the most stranger of people.. yet at the same time I see whole humanity as something that doesn't matter, something that will pass within (at most) millenia. We don't matter, there's much more life out there, we're one of the many species that originates and dies before they've made a change in the universe, if there's such a thing possible.
I found your post to connect to me on a very deep level. As I read through these posts yours is the first that related to me...if you wouldn't mind could you tell me more about yourself and your beliefs?

I've just recently regained my faith in God, and I voted for Christianity. But I'm very ignorant of other religions so I'm open to information on other religions.

Erm...I'm a bit, well, absolutely, new here. So this is my first post. Give me some pointers if you can, please.
I chose other. My religion is all 3 Abrahamic faiths. I believe that The Quaran is the final part of the Bible, the end. All the Abrahamic prophets are the same, Jesus is still the Son of God, though I think Mohamed is a bit above the other prophets. That's why I have my name as Isaac and Ishmael- the two that became the Arabs and the Jews. It reflects my beliefs.

I am guessing that you are not big on details, correct?

Btw: Welcome to RF.

Does anyone else find it telling that the largest group voting in a "religious forum" is the atheist/agnostic contingent?

No... because theists outnumber them strongly.

We theists have a lot more choice than they do about how to describe ourselves.

In general, I identify as atheist. If I'm in more sophisticated company, I identify as a metaphysical naturalist because it's more complete.

gnosticism speaks very strongly to me since it seems like an amalgamation of every religion ever lol. as a gnostic i can look for spiritual wisdom in almost anything (art, science, psychology, occultism, mysticism, other religions). its awesome

"Other - Please Explain"

That is not simple! The choice of my parents FOR me was a evangelical-holiness church for the first 18 years of my life. (It didn't take.) Tried atheism on my own which faded into agnosticism, and then complacent liberal Christianity. For various reasons, I've spent years in a study of comparative religion/myth and now I can best say that I'm ALL AND NONE; meaning that I've cherry-picked what resounds as reason and "FEELS" right for myself. Thus, I take the best of the best, and reject what rings false.

Terminology? Best single word is, "PANENDEISM" - basically a combination of: Hermetics, Gnosticism, Kabbalism, and Shamanism. I have much respect for the teachings of Hermes, Buddha, and Jesus. The Tao, Hinduism, and Wicca have good precepts to incorporate, as well.

Am I confused? Amazingly - NO, I'm not! Do I need to convince (evangelize) others to join me on my path? Absolutely not.

I consider myself an Abha'i' (Sunnimeshiah) Muslim Buddhist Taoist (some type of Christian TBD, Mormon, Methodist, or Baptist) Yehudi. I really adore Baha'i'sm, and I like to practice Kabbalist Free Masonry with some Sikh, Hindu, and Jain philosophy.
