Why are people fighting

I 'unno.

I don't like it any better than you do, but I think if its not religion, people just fight over something else.

Though, I think sometimes we start becoming hyper aware of it, 'cause its bothering us. Perhaps you could spend some time looking at positive interfaith stories, just to renew your spirit a bit towards these things?

I do agree negativity do pull me down, I do not like seeing people fighting.

All I want in this world is peace for everyone.

Why are so many people fighting over religious beliefs

It's driving me nuts o_O

Depends on the person. Just speaking of myself: religion is both something I practice and is a hobby for me. Often I will argue about it simply because I find that to be fun or hilarious (hobby side), so it isn't that serious. I switch back and forth between if I am seriously arguing because I think this is true or if I am playfully arguing just because I am bored.

The thing is, I am pulling away from debate and discussion, not wanting to be a part of it anymore.

But yes I still have unanswered questions. Maybe they never will fully be answered

I'd rather try to see the annoyance I can feel towards people as a means to see what is "wrong" with me.

Are you incapable of feeling that neurosis ( IOW the obsessive compulsive need to convince or "destroy" that person or person's view) when someone makes fun of your beliefs or expresses an opinion that might make you feel challenged, misunderstood, misrepresented, judged, or inferior?

That self-awareness makes it a lot easier to find ways to avoid unnecessary conflict and doing things I might regret, and it helps me to understand others better so that I can avoid saying things that would add fuel to the fire.

That others don't do the same is their business, and their reasons may vary.
I believe some do it to distract themselves from their own insecurities.
Some others sincerely consider it wisdom to do so,
While others like fighting for the sake of fighting.
It's like a sport to them.

Trying too hard to bring peace can ironically lead to more fighting, that's why I said:
"Get too worried about that, and you'll join the fight before you realize it!"

I do not have the need to be "right" or say "my belief is correct, yours is wrong"

I wish that even we have different understanding of spirituality and religion to be at peace with each others.

I do agree negativity do pull me down, I do not like seeing people fighting.

All I want in this world is peace for everyone.

Humanity will find peace, our unity must first be established.

In October 1985, the Universal House of Justice put our a publication addressed to the generality of humankind on the subject of universal peace, titled “The Promise of World Peace”

I had been a Baha'i for a year and it motivated me in 1986, the International year of peace to travel and attend peace conferences across Australia. In that document it offers;

".....The Great Peace towards which people of goodwill throughout the centuries have inclined their hearts, of which seers and poets for countless generations have expressed their vision, and for which from age to age the sacred scriptures of mankind have constantly held the promise, is now at long last within the reach of the nations. For the first time in history it is possible for everyone to view the entire planet, with all its myriad diversified peoples, in one perspective. World peace is not only possible but inevitable....."

I must say, I will join you in general religious discussion.

Debating is a soul killing waste of time!

When I read your reply, it made me feel my thoughts and views sounded as a Baha'i

Ha ha, it is your heart Conscious thoughts.

God talks to our hearts and the more we listen, the more we find we are all brothers and sisters in this journey that is life.

The virtues are our bond and our future. I have been watching your journey and I see your heart will guide you, as you would know, faith is a gift that only God gives.

I think you are right @TransmutingSoul :)
I do feel more and more in tune with all faiths on earth.

Still struggle a bit to be fully atuned with Atheists tho...but working on it

My own religion

Okay, inner peace it is.
First off. This is my view and you can't use my view one to one. Rather we can compare how we do it and individually might learn something, that is of use.

So here is one I use, I just don't do God as some people do, yet I still use this:
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. ... Father, give us courage to change what must be altered, serenity to accept what cannot be helped, and the insight to know the one from the other."
So I try not to worry about something I can't change. :)

Do they?
Very few people are actively fighting over religion. (And then often religion is only the stated reason and the real reasons are hidden.)
Most people are content with their religion (or lack thereof) and generally tolerant towards other religions (or lack thereof).
Debating religion is not fighting, it is an intellectual pastime.

Why not accept that people have their own faith and leave it with that?
Debate often is more " I am right you are wrong"
