Why do some Atheists say Christianity is harmful?

And im a traditionalist, monarchist, im definitely far right, but im opposed to nazism. But i like francisco franco for example. I think society has become way too liberal and permissive of evil.

And well it will have to change if we want to have any future.
Can I ask, are you Spanish?

It provides a common set of morals, that other followers can express without worrying about being taken advantage of.

For instance, I can be humble, thoughtful and kind to others who share my values, without worrying about them trying to one-up me or push me aside as being "weak". They won't do that to me, whereas someone who views aggression and 'force' as a positive trait would walk all over me - forcing me to either abandon what I believe is good, or force me to be miserable be getting walked on.
None here have said anythjng like that all religions arecall bad.
Its our opster with the extreme all or nothing.

All societies have codified values, morals.
That does not equal god- belief.

Some are well considred and of great value.
Others, not so much. Ranging as you know
from not so great, to horrendous.
But people do devise them, and generally they
allow for a better functioning society.
All of that is obvuous, no need for examoles.

My q was not about morals, but about "God".

The one with the narrow path, the impossible
rules ( often meaningless, just for - the -
sake- of- rules, for anythh g but the god)
AND the lake of fire for those who misstep.

I live by the values of my society which i cinsider
for good reason to be fsr superior to those of the
Christian god.

Or of Allah, who assures me of being eternally hung by
my hair in fire, for the sin of exposing my hair in public.

So to,ask again since you evidently misunderstood:

Of what use is belief in god?

The thing is, im not trolling, and i wish i could somehow prove to you im sincere.
FWIW I know you are sincere. Takes one to know one. ;)

Most people here don't like you because they disagree with you, but that's their problem. We all have our own opinions.
Most people on this thread don't seem to think it is okay for you to have your own opinions.

They also tried to use the proselityzing rule against me, however they also tried to convince me im wrong. So how did they not break the rules?

What good is this "future," if people's rights are encroached on because of religion?
Look at states passing legislation against gay, trans and overall LGBTQ people.
This isn't right at all and a large problem with the far right and conservatives.
I don't care what religion you are, but encroaching on people's rights because
they don't align with your beliefs is immoral.
Politics should be kept secular, and in no way influenced by one's religion.

Im partially spanish indeed, and my grandpa needed to fled the civil war, because he was attacked by far leftist thugs. Well look how it turned out in the end. No one of those left wing terrorists survived the war.
The Spanish Civil War is something I know very little about

I should probably educate myself about it

Although I am aware that it was very bloody, on both sides, lots of mass graves and atrocities etc

I don't think that's fair. Disliking someone's opinions do not equate to disliking the person.

There have been countless times that I've disliked someone's opinion here and challenged them on it. That doesn't mean I don't like them. I love everyone here. That doesn't mean I have to agree with them on everything they say.

If one creates a thread in a debate forum asking why people take issue with their religion, one can expect to be answered and to have their opinions challenged. That's the nature of a debate forum.

Disagreements do not mean the opposition is disliked.

Without opinions this forum and every other forum would not exist

They also tried to use the proselityzing rule against me, however they also tried to convince me im wrong. So how did they not break the rules?

Please show where this has happened.
Better still, report the posts and let staff decide if rules have been broken

How do you know God doesn't approve of it?
The Bible.
It's not as if he has any representatives down here on Earth
No, not right now.
And even if he didn't approve of it, who cares what he thinks about things that are none of his business?
I'd care if I knew what God thinks.
Those threats about eternal damnaton.......

I have news for you........

They are made by men, not by God
Truer words were never said.

I think it would be incorrect to say that people don't like him (Speaking for myself at least). I think it has more to do with being annoyed about not being presented with an actual argument. As much as simply being preached to.

I agree with those states, and such news make me very happy, that he woke era is coming to an slow but sure end, even in many western countries.

So you want politics be influenced by your secular views, and i want it to be influenced by my views, theres no "neutral".

All you need is love.
You created a thread asking why atheists think Christianity is harmful and you're complaining that atheists answered you?

It's actually doubly funny in that you hand fed us some great reasons yourself.....

Exactly, as @SalixIncendium pointed out so well in his post.

It's interesting that you would create a thread about how Christianity isn't harmful, and then go on to list all the reasons why it is.
