Why do some Atheists say Christianity is harmful?

Oh, and i never had a problem with the antics of God in the Old Testament, like some people have. No quite the opposite. God there shows what he wants from Humanity, and what his Rules are, and He shows what happens to those who disobey Him.

He shows His Ultimate POWER! In the New Testament its more about reconcilation, redemption, but its still the same God.

I think you're angry at the world

And want God to get back at the world on your behalf

You think the world has wronged you and you want your God to get back at it, on your behalf

That's how it seems to me

It is more acceptable for you to say you want God to punish those you think have wronged than it is for you to express a desire to punish them yourself

I think you are using your God as a proxy for your own vindictiveness

All you need is love.
It's not harmful to society at all. This is merely your opinion.

I consider it to be a dangerous opinion and another reason to call out and shun his preferred Christian beliefs. If he believes that he can say something as appalling and unacceptable as that and not receive any backlash for it, then he is gravely mistaken. I think a heinous remark like that deserves pushback.

I don't think that's fair. Disliking someone's opinions do not equate to disliking the person.

There have been countless times that I've disliked someone's opinion here and challenged them on it. That doesn't mean I don't like them. I love everyone here. That doesn't mean I have to agree with them on everything they say.

If one creates a thread in a debate forum asking why people take issue with their religion, one can expect to be answered and to have their opinions challenged. That's the nature of a debate forum.
I said: Most people here don't like you because they disagree with you, but that's their problem. We all have our own opinions.
You are right, that is not necessarily true.

I said: Most people on this thread don't seem to think it is okay for you to have your own opinions.
In my opinion, this is true.

Yep. In my personal opinion, such opinions as this are more harmful to society than anything.
I find it odd as someone has gone through similar things, being attracted to other men.
I found out quite some time ago that I was. And recently, I have embraced and accepted who I am.
I'm also married with a kid. I came to the opposite conclusion however, of being a borderline
Agnostic atheist, rather someone who's religious, and not accepting of their own self.

I suppose you can share an example, then, of a member here telling the OP that they're not entitled to their own opinion?

If not, then you claim that it's true is unfounded.

Well, I'm gonna go ahead and enjoy my mortal life, since we don't know if our mortal life affects our afterlife. Theists can enjoy being miserable while they are alive.
What would make you miserable does not necessarily make other people miserable.
People can enjoy their mortal life without sex.
