    Childless millennials / Gen Z

Dang, I can't sleep much today.. (I work 3rd shift). But I slept a lot yesterday anyway. Yeah I come from the american midwest. Out here, the cheaper houses are oftentimes kind of out in the country, but then the commute becomes ungodly. There are also some cheaper houses in the city, but I...

    Childless millennials / Gen Z

that's not the kinda of the thing I was indicating, no.. that's kinda extreme. I'm just talking about a modest house. Then again, with house prices the way they are now / the way they build modern houses, it does seem like high-grade houses are kind of becoming the only option. Ironically...

Would the human race be ready to come in contact with an intelligent alien race?

well I mean.. it's logical as well, I thought. If it doesn't cause fear, maybe it might discourage everybody from being productive on earth, if everyone knew what was possible (since it would feel like we'd never get there). Maybe that would be the real reaction, instead of fear.

Would the human race be ready to come in contact with an intelligent alien race?

Or, in a more cynical variation, perhaps they waiting for everything to fail a lot more, so that they might present themselves as saviors

Would the human race be ready to come in contact with an intelligent alien race?

This isn't something I spend a lot of time thinking about, as I don't like to tax my mental hard-drive with it. However , I'll run through a couple possibilities. Don't take them seriously, this is just 'hypothetical.' Basically I think they would contact the leaders of the superpowers, though...

Would the human race be ready to come in contact with an intelligent alien race?

I have to go to work, so I don't have time to dwell on this beyond a few sentences, but hypothetically, I don't think they'd be likely to send it to the UN. They'd decide ahead of time regarding what select leaders they want to contact, and probably do it in private. The aliens themselves...

    What book r u reading?

Re-reading Dune.. reading a tree field guide for my state, and kinda watching youtubes on each species as I go. Learning little facts that hopefully stick with me. Pecking at some difficult Hume passages. I have a translation of the Qur'an that I'll maybe read next. I probably want to read more...

The Most Frightening Thing (for me)...

I don't give a lot of thought to ETs, but I hardly think they'd employ the kind of overt strategy that you seem to suggest, if they existed, and were not entirely friendly with us. But if they were actually swarming areas with drones that couldn't be caught, or could violate the laws of physics...

The Most Frightening Thing (for me)...

There are recent trending articles about how u.s. bases were swarmed by mysterious drones for 17 days.. maybe ufo drones. Seems like it should be more concerning than our little election rounds, or no?

regulation of something vs. people acting 'well' without being told

I'm going to bed, so I don't have time to write a long op. This is just about your view on regulation via political policy (any you prefer), vs. people just acting 'well,' however you define that, without needing regulation Because that seems to a big part of all political debates , or it is at...

    Childless millennials / Gen Z

Well nevermind.. I just know that the whole topic of marriage and topics around it can have very diverse opinions. I've heard many tell me it isn't worth it, or that they'd never do it. I guess you've given me your take on it. Though I'm still curious what role you think 'chance' plays in all...

Thoughts regarding the premises behind conspiracy theories in politics

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure. I mean, thousands of years ago, maybe the peasant was told that the emperor or king was god, or a son of god, and maybe that wasn't considered a conspiracy, maybe that was considered to be closer to a fact. I think all, or most of the things on the list probably always...

    Childless millennials / Gen Z

I think it's really great that you could do that, but again, I don't think most people think on that level of timescale detail. In the dating market, or partnership market, I can't imagine someone looking at me when I was in my 20's, knowing that I wouldn't be able to afford a house or kid for...

    Childless millennials / Gen Z

I don't know, maybe I misread something. I was just thinking that you were talking about people who party, and who want to avoid responsibility.. But I was kind of wondering if most people who have kids don't plan it out that well, in the aggregate of people who do have them. And that might...

    Childless millennials / Gen Z

What you wrote is a little counter-intuitive to me, as I thought that the sort of party lifestyle was sometimes more likely to lead to a lack of impulse control. So I'm not entirely sure where you're coming from with that

    Childless millennials / Gen Z

Yeah I mean, I think it can be done, but I'd have a range of concerns about how the kid would develop in such a situation. What kind of peers would he have, and how would he feel once he became self-aware of the situation. This a culture of comparison, as far as I can tell. Other factors can be...

    Childless millennials / Gen Z

well I mean.. It does bother me, that I will be 40 in a couple years without any offspring, but I don't think I'd know how to raise them, and nor could I provide them with much. I think my job might finally be more secure now, but I'm almost 40.. Successful people who are a little older than...

Does your religion have any board games?

So for me, I decided to look at the Tarot as maybe being more like a TOE, whereas most people seem to look at it as a divination / magic tool. I'm not saying it can't be those things, but my use of it not like that.. I'm not looking to predict someone's love life with it, or something like...

October 7, 2024 - Meditation on One Year Anniversary of October 7 Massacre

That's a key word I hear a lot when hearing about this topic: Land, land land.. You know in america, land is basically just real-estate. The person who can afford it usually gets it. But how does it work in the middle-east? Does a lot of inheritance happen there? How long do families, from any...

    Trump & Eugenics

@Revoltingest Selective pressure in modern society is constantly at work, so I don't even know if eugenics is even needed, since maybe somethng like is always happening, or always was passively happening? You've probably noticed there are some people, maybe a lot of people, that aren't exactly...
