    @oldbadger, you are so set on arguing with me that you're not realizing that I agree with you. I'm saying that the ayatollah is placed in a leadership position for political reasons, and yes, people are influenced by his ridiculousness... and I think it's pathetic. Shariah Law has no place...

    What are you people talking about? There is no official "clergy" in Islam, but there ARE plenty of groups who speak on behalf of the Muslim community. Some of these statements were made even before the infamous 9/11... CAIR's Anti-Terrorism Campaigns - CAIR is one... The American Muslim (TAM)...

    I've been off for a while; we had a death in the family after a long illness, so my attention was on spending time with the now deceased and family. My dear father-in-law passed away last week. He will be missed; he lived with our family for nearly two decades.

    I'm with DS on this. The level of homophobia in the Muslim world is downright ridiculous. It makes me wonder if there is some denial in people who think this way... "He doth protest too much"...
