    The "You've Been Photoshopped" Thread

I have an appalling photo (because it is a photo OF a photo) of me as a somewhat younger man wearing my Building Wardens hat with an inflatable seagull scotch-taped on top. (Don't ask!)

Frubals and love letters - The down side

It is not just about not being the centre of attention, it is about feeling unwelcome, feeling unnoticed. This has little to do with jealousy, it has much more to do with being in a position where you feel uneeded, YET AGAIN. Yes, it is important for community members to be recognised for...

Frubals and love letters - The down side

Netdoc, you say "those feeling the pangs of jealousy just grow up a bit." I wonder how useful a comment that is? It certainly helps the frustration and anger you are feeling over what has happened but for those who have, often through no fault of their own, been the excluded ones, it is not...

Frubals and love letters - The down side

When I post such threads (and yes I DO post such threads) on other boards I am generic. I say things like " I appreciate ALL OF YOU." "All of you matter to me" (BTW, YOU ALL DO! :D ) We can affirm each other without cutting others out and perhaps for those we care dearly about we can PM them?

Frubals and love letters - The down side

The point is not to do way with such community-affirming activities but to find ways of including others in without it feeling like an "in-crowd" thing.

What is a temple to you?

A former Prime Minister of NZ, David Lange, was attending a dinner function here in NZ. Sitting beside him was the well-known (In NZ anyway) cartoonist and raconteur Tom Scott. At the end of the dinner the post-prandial (had to get it in somewhere :D ) chocolates were being handed round. When...

Frubals and love letters - The down side

Standing_Alone, We almost always remember / mention those posters who strike a chord somewhere in ourselves, the way they write, what they say, HOW they say it reflects something which is important to us & so they easily slip into our memories. For those who do not 'fit' in that way such...

What do you like the most about any RF member?

It is interesting to note both how long I have been a member and how little mention is made of me. While I think that threads like this do have a place in online communities such as RF there is a chance of quite unintentionally hurting someone's feelings. Sometimes those feelings spring...

Could Alexanders invasion of india be the Aryan Invasion?

Yes, Sanskrit, Old Avestan and Greek are related. The first two moreso than the last. Certainly the initial effect of the IASPS invasion was to knock India backwards from a settled agricultural community into one which was making the transition from nomadism to agriculturalism.
