If you get hit by a car and are lying in the street in agony consider that
it's only an illusion and get over it.:rolleyes:

Psychotherapy is something you might consider.

Why should we care about anything or anybody or God or Heaven or whatever if everything is just an illusion?

I can imagine all the times you came across gunshot victims when out on patrol. If only they understood everything is an illusion.

Yes, if only....

At least they might get a glimpse into the illusion that got them there in the first place. Then they might have half a chance of waking up from the drama of Identification they find themselves in.

So what makes you think that getting hit by a car and lying in the street in agony is real?

If you were asleep and dreaming this event, it is real to you while in the dream, is it not? But when you awaken, you realize the illusory nature of the dream, do you not?

I've been in a car accident.....

Don't know what you mean. The pressure waves is the sound of a tree falling. So the sound my ears pick up is the sound of a tree falling. And I have seen and heard a tree fall before so I know I'm hearing the sound of a tree falling. What do you mean difference?

Well your position is that there is a sound whether you are there to hear it or not. So if you are not present, there are no ears and brains to hear and process the pressure waves as the sound of a tree falling; but if present, ears and brain are involved. So is there still no difference, as you claim?

I put it back to you because you are playing childish games as usual, asking counter questions to change the subject. And don't give me that nonsense about it not being in the current discussion, you continually change the subject and dump in your "spiritual" quotes, often at random.

So, are you claiming that sunyata is compatible with "Cosmic Consciousness"? Yes or no?

If your answer is "yes" then explain how this can possibly be the case, given that consciousness also lacks inherent existence.

If the answer is "no", then stop talking about sunyata as if it is anything to do with your new-age nonsense.

I have raised this question with you repeatedly, all you do is sidestep. So stop the evasion and answer the question.

Sho' 'nuff now, just as soon as you answer mine. Deal?

I disagree. It doesn't matter if there is an ear/brain around to hear a sound. The sound exists independently from our perception. It is relatively meaningless to suggest otherwise. For example, the earth is literally trembling under our feet, almost constantly, but the vast majority of the time the shaking is below the range of our perception. Does that mean that the tremors are not happening? Same difference. Likewise, dogs and other animals hear sounds we do not. Do those sounds, that are out of our range, not exist?

The tremors you describe are vibrations out of our hearing range. They exist, but have not been processed as audible sound, because they are inaudible to us. So no, there is no sound. Sound requires ears and brains to receive and process the pressure waves. Until then, they are only pressure waves.

The sounds exist for dogs and other animals, but not for us.
