All Bathrooms Gender Neutral: Good Idea or Bad Idea?

No we aren't.

We are debating about public bathrooms/restrooms. I wasn't the one who brought up what they were called. I think you may need to go back and check the thread for that. Hint: It wasn't me who brought that up. ;)

Did you happen to take a look at the link from the UUA? They have some great ideas/answers/suggestions about the whole issue.

I called it "restroom" from the beginning, as I thought that is what it was talking about. I am still wondering what you meant by these statements:

So you feel the same about family bathrooms?

In a family bathroom that is multiple stalls, you would still have strangers. Your point?

Bathroom/restroom. Interchange the word and you'll have your answer. Is it really that hard to understand?

What's confusing me about what you are saying is that you mentioned, when I said I was uncomfortable about unisex restrooms/bathrooms in my "family bathroom". Maybe if you explained what you meant by that.

First world controversies are such a joke.

If you're anatomically male or anatomically female, then stick with the bathroom that is designed for your anatomy. If that is too difficult, then stick with the bathroom in which the gender presented is the one you and the rest of the world can reasonably accept you as.

I'm not transphobic. If someone was born female and can reasonably identify as a male and would like to use the men's restroom, I wouldn't care. Heck, I wouldn't even care if gender conforming females used the men's restroom.

My jimmies aren't going to be rustled by something as petty as going to the bathroom.

Can someone give me a quick synopsis of the reasons that a trans can't comfortably use either a men's or women's room? How this is a "health and safety" issue?

We aren't talking about bathrooms any more you cretin:D
"Restrooms" is likely to be the next word bludgeoned. So I am sticking with "men's" and "women's". "Room" might be controversial as well.

If I must, I might resort to hitting the loo. Just to escape...

Fine. If you guys demand gender neutral multi-stalled restrooms, then I demand the right to openly carry my Colt Mustang into them (and I do own one, I am proud gun owner)
You're proud to own a gun?? Why is that? Is it some kind of extraordinary accomplishment?

You mentioned family bathroom (which I understood for you to mean private, in the home). Family bathroom/restroom in the public is what I was referring to. Help out?

I never brought up any family bathrooms at all until you did. You must be thinking of someone else. But I am done with the debate, I gave my opinion. :)

Heh

This thread is way funnier than drunk chat on sunstone central.

Whoo, chicks with guns in bathrooms:run:

I wouldn't feel unsafe in a public restroom in a place like a restaurant, where there are a lot of people. I don't use the restrooms that they have in parks because of what I've seen: People using drugs, people passed out, etc. And they don't clean those park restrooms very often. That's not always true, though, certain parks lock up the restrooms and you have to ask for a key.

I just don't think that some people understand that we do not live in a perfect world but that we live in a world that is not only full of sin and imperfection but a world that is sinful and imperfect. They just do not want to face that reality.

We live in a imperfect world.

I can't argue with that nor would I want to. I think that anywhere can be unsafe at any given time and I am not advocating otherwise. But we can't live our lives in fear. The majority of people in public restrooms aren't out to harm others, including those of the opposite sex.

Sin has nothing to do with this. Unless you think god has a stock in who uses the bathrooms?!?!
