Arming teachers is a great idea

Dude: your TV isn't worth killing anyone over.

I certainly agree with that! TV or any mere possessions.

These days, I now live in a place with such good security, I'd not waste a minute thinking about a break-in.

The person who refers to the possibility of an intruder
as a fantasy is way off base, though. Happened to me.

Perhaps, someone would be able to scare an attacker off by saying "Whoosh!" or, "Roogie Roogie", but, I am too small for anyone to be physically intimidated by me.

Me waving a baseball bat or something would just get a laugh.

As it was, I did not even have that, and I am fortunate
to be alive, tho I have to say I will never be the same.

I'd hate to live where I needed to be able to protect myself, but was prohibited from doing so.

Where would that be? Where do you "need to be able to protect yourself" with a loaded firearm in the house ready to go?

I ask as someone who lives across the street from a drug dealer and used to live next door to crackheads (until they accidentally set fire to their house) and has never seen the need to arm himself. If anything, keeping an unsecured loaded gun in the house would just be something expensive for the neighbours to steal.

So when you say "where I needed to be able to protect myself," exactly what place did you have in mind?

Well, where I was when I needed to protect myself and was unable to would be an example.

Why not? What if he tries to kill me? Its either him or me.

But hey, i wouldent shoot to kill, id try to shoot him in the leg.

Yea, i think its worth it. He has no right to break in my place i worked hard for and steel my stuff. Go make a honest living and buy your own stuff, otherwise hes worthless and useless. Yea, as a human he may have value, but, i call it protective justice.

Also, its not even about the stuff, its about the work i did to get it. I dont like working for nothing, thats a terrible feeling.

And where is that? Describe the specifics.

Edit: I hope you realize that all you did was restate the thing I asked you to clarify.

I was as specific as I am going to be, in above
post referring to a very unfortnate incident.
Sorry-
I dont mean to be rude or anything.

Dont shoot unless you. HAVE to.
If you are going to shoot, shoot to kill.

And, as instructor told the class, for the rest of your
life you will wish there had been something, anything as
an alternative

Even if you're small, people won't laugh at that.

I do not own a gun now, probably never will again.

Neither NYC or HK favour such.

In the event, i'd not be so sure that a cornered
and terrified gitl with a knife would not just be amusing
to a man with a chair, broom, or about anything
else a bit longer-and weilded by a much bigger stronger
person.

Anyone with half a brain wouldn't approach you with a chair or broom when what you wield is designed to slash through the jungle and think it amusing after you hack a limb off.

Although legally you can't use deadly force to protect your property, you can use deadly force if you feel you life is in danger. Having said this you need to shoot to kill, not wound. If you shoot to wound a court could show that you truly did not fear for your life; and the perp can sue you for everything you have. Talk about robbery...

I think arming teachers logically will increase defense and security.

What do you think?

What about Coach drivers?
Retail Sales Assistants?
..... Let's skip the list....... why not make it mandatory for every adult to be trained and qualified in firearms use and to have to be armed (and insured) when in any public places?

OK? Sorted.........

But if you fail to kill when you shoot, then you're stuffed legally, according to what you tell us above, so can you shoot the person again to kill them to save all your money being taken in this law suit against you later? Or is that murder?

Fascinating stuff.....

Another area the "let's just arm teachers" crowd seems not to have considered. Increase the number of firearms in schools, and you WILL increase the number of firearm accidents. Who pays for them? What about friendly fire? Mr. Rambo from home ec. Misidentifies a threat and shoots some kid who wasn't actually an active shooter, who pays for that?

Here's a big one; what's the protocol for when the cops show up? How do they tell the armed teachers from the active shooter(s)?

Luv it........the madness of it all...... :)

I want to know who is going to insure all these teacher's firearms and actions with them, and who is going to pay the premiums. If I was an underwriter I wlould run from these risks so fast!

But in the US one doesn't have to be firearms insured, so maybe the teacher just has to give up their home and life-savings if they make a mistake?

We got some nuts here in the UK, but over there........ ummm.... :p

Oh my god! I knew the system in this world was evil and oppressive, but it always shocks me every time i learn more of it.

Thats insanity.
