GOP rallies around Trump following FBI search of his estate

The warrant is currently sealed. Trump’s attorney who was at Mar A Lago when the search was executed was not permitted to touch the warrant and was only allowed to see it from a distance before being ordered to leave the premises. There is no report President Trump has ever received a copy of the warrant nor do we know what requests he has made to get one. We do know that the FBI has not released it nor yet responded to requests from the judge about a motion for it to be unsealed and released.

Trump is the only one that could currently demand to see it. It appears that he has not asked to see it.

Of course I could be wrong since there are classified documents involved. This may be a federal warrant which would be under other rules. To even see it one may need a security clearance. I will have to do some more Googling. Why would you expect to see it? Why do you think that you have a right to see it?

I am saying I don’t know. There is no reason to assume Trump is telling the truth (ever).
That's not how things work, if trump falsely accused FBI for not letting his attorneys in it would surely be in news to refute his claim.
Burden of proof is on FBI.

Imagine yourself being accused of something.
You know you're not guilty.
Would you just keep you mouth shut and say nothing?
If I was the head of the DOJ and I was constrained by law from giving out details, yes. The most I would do in that situation is give a general statement defending the FBI and their actions. Which is what Garland just did.

Remember, we are talking about Trump here. You might keep quiet, do you think that he would?

Fair enough.
But sooner or later they'll have to talk and then we'll see.

Breaking news. The warrants were sealed by a federal judge. They could not be released. But ... .

Justice Dept. seeks to unseal search warrant of Trump home

Whooo boy!

The Justice Department has asked a court to unseal the warrant the FBI received before searching the Florida estate of former President Donald Trump, Attorney General Merrick Garland said Thursday, acknowledging the extraordinary public interest in the case.

The request was striking because such documents traditionally remain sealed during a pending investigation. But the Justice Department appeared to recognize that its silence since the search had created a vacuum for bitter attacks from the former president and his allies, and Garland felt it wise to respond to the widespread demands for details about what the led to the FBI action.

“The public’s clear and powerful interest in understanding what occurred under these circumstances weighs heavily in favor of unsealing,” said a motion filed in federal court in Florida on Thursday seeking the the unsealing.

Garland also cited the fact that Trump himself had provided the first public confirmation of the FBI search, and the attorney general said that disclosing information about it now would not harm the court’s functions.

If I'm accused and know I'm guilty then my only choice is to admit defeat or start lying.
But what's your point really?

Remember, we are talking about Trump here. You might keep quiet, do you think that he would?
No sorry but we are talking about FBI.

Keep in mind, I don’t even know if the lawyer is allowed to observe the search or not. Neither Trump nor his lawyer should be given special privileges. If it is normal procedure for the FBI to allow a lawyer to observe the search they should have done that. If it is normal procedure to have the lawyer removed, that is what they should have done.

If you are concerned, do some research on FBI procedure.

No. It is putatively legal. Whether it is actually legal is subject to review.
Did you read the article that I linked. It explained why it was sealed. That is done partly to protect the accused. But since Trump could not keep his big yap shut that excuse no longer applies and since false claims are being made about the warrant by Republicans the Justice Department wants it unsealed early.

It looks like they know that it is a valid warrant and have no fears.

I wonder why doesn't Trump have cameras in his house, and then if FBI planted false evidence he could humiliate them into the grave.
Seems like Trump isn't smart enough or is he so poor he can't afford cameras?

Nope, you brought up the liar in your argument.
Please quote my post where I said that.

You just don't like the fact that it goes against Trump
I only care about logical arguments, but you keep running your ad hominem attacks.

Now that is interesting. Who said he didn’t have cameras? I bet he did.

Actually he is not the only one that can request to see it. Judicial Watch, for example, has filed a motion with the Court to see it. Your objection for why it should be kept from the public is speculation. The public has a legitimate right in seeing warrants unless there is some reason that supersedes that. No actual evidence has been submitted indicating that. Furthermore the Department of Justice has asked the Court to unseal it. That presupposes that the DOJ is not aware of any thing in the warrant that precludes it from public viewing. Remember it was the DOJ that requested the warrant and it was the DOJ that request it be sealed. The onus of it being sealed lies with them, not President Trump.

That has nothing to do with what I wrote. I wrote about its legality, not whether it was sealed.

Or the DOJ is trying to get in front of the story of how it screwed up. We will have to wait and see.
