Very true and religious beliefs like God, Brahman, "cosmic consciousness", "nothingness" and "ultimate reality" really do need to be let go of. Such beliefs are are like the tint on a pair of spectacles, people can't cope with the glare of reality, but of course the tints obscure their vision. The stronger the beliefs, the stronger the tint, the less clearly one can see.

Do you really KNOW that these ideas are only beliefs, and not authentic spiritual experiences, simply because you have no experience of them yourself, similar to the prisoners in Plato's Cave who have no experience of having seen the Sun. To them, it simply does not exist, and the escaped prisoner who did really experience it first hand is trying to find a way to describe his experience in a way the others might get a clue.

Sure, we have a difference of opinion. Is that a problem?

The concern I raised was your making stuff up to give the impression that you are enlightened, when you are clearly not. It's not very honest.

There is a lot of that going on in this thread actually, I'm disappointed that you're playing the same game.

I have already mentioned that what you think does not matter much to me. I have my own view about things. I believe in science, for me you and Godnotgod are woo people.

One minute you claim to be a Hindu, the next a Buddhist, the next an atheist materialist, then you dishonestly claim to be enlightened. Reminds me of somebody else on this thread.

Yes, I am all that. If you don't believe that, it is fine with me. Buddhism and Hinduism are quite similar. I take both Sankara and Buddha as my gurus. I follow 'advaita' (non-duality), therefore cannot accept existence of God and find no reason for such a belief. Atheism is not an anathema either in Hinduism or in Buddhism. I am now in 21st Century and am surprised when people claim unscientific things. Add up all that and one gets Aupmanyav who may be an atheist but is not a hater of religion. There will always be people who are short on intelligence and believe in woo. But, we all have to live together. That is what my religion advises me (and I follow it). :D

ha...science may be the greatest 'woo' of all, leading you on and on , with its clinical descriptions of reality, but failing to nourish the soul. Then again, all I am capable of doing is pointing to the moon. I suppose that's just not enough.

There is no one who is not enlightened. You should know better. But then again, you haven't realized your enlightenment yet, so that's why you think Aupmanyav is not enlightened.

On that point we can agree. It has been very evident in this thread, where we are wading knee-deep in woo and BS.

Hmmmm.....is that what's going on in those old stagnant Hinayana backwaters you continue to wallow in, which are muddling your vision, causing you to lie when confronted with the Buddha's very own words telling us clearly that Nirvana is the Absolute? Hmmmm?

It seems to me that,
Indian-Asiatic 'god'-laden religions have one thing in common,
they seem to realize that there is a Nirvana or Brahman,
in the endless Cosmos, but no cognition.
Ahhhhhh.......but could I be there !
