No, the Great Depression was the direct cause of GREED, LYING, CHEETING, STEALING, COVETING, REBELLION, ETC... The symptoms were a major shift moral behavior very quickly.

far better that morals never change

that homosexuals stay in closets, beaten to death and ostracised if found out...

and women, officially unable to enjoy sex, should be lobotomized at the first sign of orgasm...

:sarcastic these were good common values that existed before and during the depression

:sarcastic hmm maybe God approves of lobotomies?

As to the Voodoo, the Bible is complete, they need not add to it or take away.

Thats why there are so many different versions, with different translations, and differering book contents huh?

Does that make Indian Christians who use The Acts of Peter as part of their bible, satanic?

"The land itself must observe a sabbath to the Lord. For six years sow your fields, and for six years prune your vineyards and garner their crops. But in the seventh year the land is to have a sabbath of rest, a sabbath to the Lord.... The land is to have a year of rest." (Leviticus 25:2-5; cf. Exodus 23:10-11)

Next verse.

You mean the worms should stop, have a cup of tea and praise the lord?

Where did the acts of peter come from? Same base not included in the Bible by the council.

What is the base of Voodoo? Traditional witchcraft.

You cant mix Christianity and Witchcraft.

Oopps I meant the acts of Thomas....

You still fail to grasp the idea there are many versions of the bible...
To call it "complete" is to be frankly dishonest...

need I mention Jubilees, enoch....maccabees etc

...

Harold W. Attridge describes the Acts of Thomas as follows: (The Anchor Bible Dictionary, v. 6, p. 531):
Pseudepigraphic text which relates the adventures of the apostle Judas Thomas as he preaches an ascetical or encratite form of Christianity on the way to and from India. Like other apocryphal acts combining popular legend and religious propaganda, the work attempts to entertain and instruct. In addition to narratives of Thomas' adventures, its poetic and liturgical elements provide important evidence for early Syrian Christian traditions.
Attridge writes about the attestation to the Acts of Thomas (op. cit., p. 531):
The major Syriac witnesses (B.M. add. 14.645) dates to 936 C.E. the earliest Syriac witnesses to the text, a fragmentary palimpset (Sinai 30), dates from the 5th or 6th century. The major Greek witnesses (Paris. gr. 1510 and Vallicel. B 35) date to the 11th century, although there are partial Grek witnesses dating from the 10th. Some form of the work was clearly in circulation by the end of the 4th century when testimonies begin. Epiphanius (Anac. 47.1 and 60.1.5) records its use by Encratites. Augustine (de serm. dom. in monte 1.20.65; c. Adiamantium 17; c. Faustum 14 and 22.79) attests its use by Manicheans, and allusions are found in the Manichean Psalms. Attestations continue sporadically until the 9th-century Byzantine patriarch Photius (Cod. 114) and the 11th-century archbishop, Nicetas of Thessalonica, who paraphrased the work. The original composition is probably to be dated in the first half of the 3d century, slightly later than the Acts of Peter, John, and Paul, which are attested in the 2d century. Some sections, particularly the originally independent Hymn of the Pearl, presuppose conditions in the Parthian period, which ended with the establishment of the Sassanian Empire in 226 C.E. It is likely that Acts Thom. underwent redactional development, including adaptation by Manicheans, in the late 3d or 4th centuries.

The base of Voodoo is actually african religions...
like I said it involves angels.... in modern times Voodoo is a mix of christianity and that african base....

While I quite agree that you cant mix witchcraft and christianity (there really isnt a "place" for Jesus in witch craft, although modern revisionists make this attempt)... the vast majority of Occultists in the past 600 yrs in the West, have been christian and /or considered Christ to be a rather profound part of their approach to God

Right or wrong, it is what it is....

I am completely astounded at the degree of superstition in this thread. I seriously can't believe what I'm reading.

I don't comprehend what you are asking...

I understand fully though, you see the world as US and THEM

I don't think jesus saw things that way...but there...

In a way it is us and them. And Jesus said:
Matthew 24:7-10 (New International Version)

7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,

Is there any other way to say it, us and them.

I an asking about the traditional African rituals and beliefs. You brought it up.

I guess I really should not be surprised that there are those on here who actually think that natural disasters, economic down-turns, and terrorist attacks are the direct result of either Gods wraith, or God withdrawing his protection.
The feeble attempt at causation is ignorance at best, and a deep-down desire for the so called "sinner" to perish by Gods hands at worst.
No, probably not surprising, but still very disgusting. :slap:
