Salvation in Christianity

oh really, try that in a court of law
Religion is not law. Did God ever go on trial?

My body is not who I am, and it is only necessary so the soul can operate while I am living in a physical body.

The physical body can be likened to a software program that allows a computer to function.

The computer does not die after the software program is uninstalled, it continues to exist.
Likewise, the soul does not die after the physical body dies, it continues to exist.

After the physical body dies the soul is raised as a spiritual body and goes to heaven where it continues to live forever.
The physical body cannot exist in the Kingdom of God in heaven. That is why it needs to be transformed into a spiritual body.

1 Corinthians 15 New Living Translation

40 There are also bodies in the heavens and bodies on the earth. The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the glory of the earthly bodies.

44 They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.

50 What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!

All Christians, including yourself, have an interpretation. Even reading the Bible literally is an interpretation. ..
Sorry, I don't see how it is an interpretation. Still, I think it is best, if people let the Bible itself explain what it means, without adding own meanings in it.

And you don't think that's a problem? To my mind you are trying to avoid being responsible for your beliefs. The "I'm just reading the Bible." reminds me of the "I'm just following orders." excuse.

Any non-factual text, like the Bible, is interpreted if someone walks away with some meaning. Those who believe the Bible is the "Word of God" will interpret it differently than someone who understands it ws written by many humans.
Still, I think it is best, if people let the Bible itself explain what it means, without adding own meanings in it.
But the Bible makes claims, and doesn't explain anything. This is one reason why there is so much disagreement among Christians about what various stories mean. Some even believe the Genesis stories are literally true. They are obviously allegories that are not explained with any texts from the era they were written. Scholars discuss what these stories likely mean. We often see Christians accuse their fellow Christians of "not getting it" but can't explain how their own interpretation is valid and true, so irony at work there.

How about you, do you think the Genesis stories are literally true? Or just allegories?

All reading requires interpretation to assign a meaning since no book interprets itself.
If the Bible explained what it means, why do Christians disagree about what it means? It is because they interpret the Bible differently.
e.g., If all Christians interpreted the Bible exactly the same way they would all agree on what happens to them after they die, but they certainly don't agree.

Jesus in me
The idea that “I am saved” is different than “I will be saved”. Christians are to strongly identify with the Kingdom by identifying with the former.

Still, the question that should follow: If I am saved, then why am I not in the Kingdom of Heaven? Someone cannot be saved from a flood while they are still in the flood. Christians will respond to this by explaining that “I am saved” and “I will be saved” are actually the same, but that is a move which weakens identification with the Kingdom.

Christians, don’t soften on this - you are saved, but then confront the question: if you are saved, then why aren’t you in the Kingdom?
I believe I am in the Kingdom.

Thanks for the link.
I am saved because I’m born again and a new creation in Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:17). Spiritually, I am in God’s kingdom. I’m not in the kingdom literally because the the arrival of the Kingdom of God on earth has been put on hold during this church age of grace.
I believe you mean we are not in the Kingdom as a place. Literally means in a word and in a word we are in the kingdom.

Jesus in me
Yes

Yes, my soul (mind, emotions, and free will) are with my body. My spirit is in Christ, with Christ, in His heavenly kingdom. I fully realize this world system ruled by the god of this world ( satan) is not the kingdom of the Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe we are bodily in the Kingdom as well. That is where our spirit resides. What we don't have yet is the body that doesn't die and we are not physically in the physical Kingdom of God.

I think the more appropriate question are "saved from what?" And "saved how?"

And I think the answer is that we are being saved from ourselves by letting go of our self-centered fear and doubt and desire and embodying the divine spirit of love, forgiveness, kindness and generosity within us. The "kingdom" is a way of being. And "salvation" is the ongoing process of becoming it. This moment and in this instance I may succeed, then the next moment or instance I may not. Salvation takes a lifetime.

Yes, I believe we will all be getting a spiritual body.

To be able to exist in the spiritual world and carry on our activities there.

I did not say I was going to turn into a spirit, I said I am going to be raised as spiritual body. That is what the Bible says:

1 Corinthians 15:44 They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.

The Bible does not say: They are buried as natural human bodies, and they will be raised as natural human bodies.

just so you won't be surprised when that does not happen.
