He is required to release the recording. He's in contempt of Congress if he doesn't. His personal views against the members of Congress (who represent the people since they were elected, which Garland was not) is not relevant.

Add also this fact: the President has invoked Executive Privilege over these recordings. I don't think Garland was allowed to release them because the President is constitutionally the top law enforcement agent in the country.Do you mean Garland refusing to release the video of the Biden interview? They have the transcript. They haven't given a credible reason why they would need the video. And given the unethical behavior of Jordan and Comer these MAGAs can't be trusted with the video. These two have a history of lying, so they have eliminated themselves as credible oversight officials. MAGAs don't have honor or princples, they they expect the democrats to have them, and pressure them by exploiing the system. The system is an honor system, and those who disrespect it are not allowed to use it.
Let's add that Trump is challenging the appointment of special councels, which is what Robert Her was in his investigation into Biden in the first place.

Garland isn't doing anything illegal or unethical. He recognized the corrupt members who lack honor, and are trying to exploit an honor system. Garland is respectable. Jordan and Comer are corrupt, and can't be trusted.

Executive privilege can only be invoked by a sitting president. Trump has tried to claim it for his post-presidency cases.

If it shows biden to be a forgetful old man (something the public should know about before the upcoming election), then Garland is interfering in the election by withholding the information. But we may just have to do with what we have. Wandering off and needing to be retrieved by the Italian Prime Minister. "Mr. Biden! Ice cream over here!"

Wonderful example of propaganda. Biden was walking over to talk to one of the skydivers. And then was told they were going to take a picture. That is hardly evidence of "a forgetful old man".

If judges are handcuffed by guidelines, maybe the guidelines should be put on the bench instead of judges. Same for juries.
I don't see it as judges being handcuffed
I see it as standardising sentencing and about being impartial and fair
There is supposed to be the rule of law, not the rule of judges
