Those are "legal immigrants". Here is the law:

(1)In general
Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien’s status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title.

Please note this part of the law: "(whether or not at a designated port of arrival ". That means that even if they cross the border illegally 'not at a designated port of arrival" that they are still legal.

I did not write that law. Biden did not write that law. It was originally written in 1952.
You left out the part where an asylum seeker has to seek asylum in the first country they pass through after leaving their own country. Since Venezuela isn't on our border, nor are China, or the Congo, the laws regarding asylum are being violated, and biden clearly didn't mind letting that happen until just 9 months before facing an election.
Until then, all he would say is, "The border is secure!"

Now he has to face the fact that he's been lying about it all along.

Can you quote the part of the law that says that he must do that?

I could, but then you wouldn't like the source.
It's been the pattern with you.
When you use bogus sources, and you tend to do that quite often, of course I will not like them. Did you not see that I used an apolitical source. It merely provided the law but made no comment on it. If you cannot find a reliable source then that is a very good indication that your source is wrong.

EDIT: I could have used an immigration rights source. But I new that you would reject that. That is why I went straight to the law.

None of which explains your side's stance of illegals coming into our country and murdering our citizens.

Um, the crime rate with the "illegals" is significantly lower that with the American citizenry-- not even close.

BTW, before you spout more disinformation, let me add that I am not in favor of "open borders" that is the dishonest garbage some of the Trumpettes spew out.

Another BTW: the joint agreement between Senate Dems & Pubs had agreed upon was scuttled by Trump because he didn't want Biden to get credit for it!!! Can't you even see the reality that Trump is for Trump-- not you nor I!

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I believe the law says that ANY alien who crosses wherever and however must apply for asylum.

Yes, if their intention is to apply for asylum that is what they need to do. But not all those crossing the border do so to seek asylum. Sometimes Mexicans are just visiting the US just as sometimes we go visit Mexico. This happens so much that in many areas "customs" just amounts to answering a few questions from customs agents, having the right paperwork, and usually a quick visual inspection of your car. If you go through a border legally you can stay for a limited amount of time in the US, and that is 90 days. Illegal workers can say that they visiting. Work for just shy of 90 days. And then go home for a day or two and repeat.

It is illegal for them to work, but US businesses are willing to hire cheap labor and look the other way when fake SSN's are given. I do not see Trump claiming about those people. He hires them.

But yes, a person applying for asylum must turn themselves in at the earliest possibility and most do. Once they do that they are legal. Right now the system is overtaxed and they are let go with a court date. The compromise with the Republicans would have fixed a lot of that. But Trump wants there to be a problem.

Sigh. I live in Texas. I worked for many years in staffing. Believe it or not, our staffing company (which owned and still owns this smaller city in Texas) didn't hire any illegal aliens or work with any company which paid minimum wage, which was hardly any from what I could tell, even ten years ago. In fact, I can only think of one company, and zero illegal aliens who applied with us, zero. We used some sort of program which pretty much instantly checked their SS numbers. I can't remember the name, sorry. Anyway, we DO have a problem but the problem seems to be that it is too timely and costly to go through the channels to become a legal resident of this country.

I know of that program. I never said that all businesses hire illegals. But you have to know that there are plenty that do. For example agricultural stoop labor is almost all illegal aliens. I know in my state that high school students won't work in the strawberry fields even though the minimum wage is about $15.00 an hour.

And both parties know that the US needs illegal workers. That is why neither of them when they have had the power have forced businesses to use the program that you mentioned. I will not claim that either party is squeaky clean when it comes to hiring of illegals. One can just see which party has the bigger hypocrites.

I think both parties are hypocrites. And don't get me started on the proposed "government shutdown" and who gets paid and who doesn't!
By the way, we don't have many or any agricultural stoop labor jobs around here. Sorry!

Yet each one is a criminal by default by entering the country illegally.

Those who look at what's happening there now and proclaims, "The border is secure" is spewing disinformation.

Democrap disinformation right there!
Trump-haters now think Trump can scuttle legislative measures as a private citizen. Next, you'll claim he's passing laws.

Can you quote the proposed law--specifically the parts that "would have fixed a lot of that"?

I have crossed the border into the U.S. many times and I have never even considered applying for asylum.
Were you an alien? Was your paperwork in order? What nationality is your passport? Did you show any paperwork to get in? I would check your nationality but apparently you only allow your profile to be accessed by certain people and I am not one!

What do you mean by "alien"?

I was not then, and I am not now a U.S. citizen.

I have not visited the U.S. in quite a while. But I use to go down there many times a year. And I have never had a passport or shown any kind of "paperwork". Custom agents would ask my nationality and the reason for my visit and wave me through.

Give it a try sometime. You may get a $5,000 gift card, a Biden phone, and a ticket to travel anywhere you want.

Well, I wonder why everyone doesn't go that route.

Also, you said you haven't been to the US in quite a while, but that you used to go down there many times a year. Which implies that "going down there" is coming across the northern border, not the southern border, which is where the biggest issues are. But you know that. You also apparently haven't been to the US in "quite a while." How long, exactly?
