I hope you can help a foreigner understand.
I’m not at all implying that all Trump supporters would have or do buy into QAnon. People are free to support whatever politician they please and usually it’s for a reasonable cause. Support of policy or even liking the media appearances. That’s fine. More power to you. I’m not here to condemn anyone’s political position at all.

I’m just here to sort of ask, what the hell is up with QAanon and why they as a movement seemingly chose Trump of all people to be the “messiah?”

Because I’m sorry guys but it just seems utterly bizarre to an outsider. And indeed there are seemingly chapters in my own country as a result. I doubt they’re huge chapters but they’re there
The cult of personality, the media cultivation and the subsequent “interpretations” I’ve since seen from the movement specifically.
Is it a culmination of many factors I’m not American enough or indeed old enough to understand?
And bonus question, do you think the movement itself can influence politics in the future? In whatever way.
I’m afraid I just crave context and information. Preferably from someone more aware of US culture than I am
There are fringe groups that are tied to any political party IMO. What they think and act really isn't the norm and certainly the media loves hyping things to sell news. (that's their business... selling news.)

It would be like some media that says Australia is underway for total dictatorship. Probably most people don't subscribe to that part but a fringe group does.

Sgt. Pepper

All you need is love.
That was sort of joking with you, but it's true! A lot of people don't realize it.

You Don't Have to 'Imagine' John Lennon Was Abusive

Yes, I know about John's troubled relationship with his first wife and oldest son, Julian. I'll make no excuses to dismiss his abusive behavior or the immense hurt he caused. However, according to Julian, John was making a concentrated effort to make amends with him and his mother (John's ex-wife, Cyn) in the weeks before he was shot (multiple times) and killed by Mark David Chapman.

Julian Lennon says that watching the new Beatles documentary Get Back was a “life-changing” experience that “made me love my father again." - John Lennon’s son Julian says new Beatles documentary “made me love my father again”

Alright, @cOLTER. I’m no fan of Lennon as a person either. But can we please slow this down a moment?
This is not the topic at hand and people can choose any hero they so desire. Let’s try to keep things civil

On another note, did anyone catch this?

It's truly disturbing what these QAnon people actually believe. It really is a cult, and Trump is its leader. One man in the video said, "We never were on the moon. No, I don't think the Hitler situation is as bad as they say it was, either." SMH.

Of course, you support unethical behavior so long as it against your opponents.
Wrong. I never said I supported the people who broke laws and ethics. I said these few examples do not invalidate the evidence as a whole.

The ends justify the means. Using secret courts to spy on pollical opponents is normal for the Left.
Actually, no. There were mistakes made by a few people in getting warrants. As we know trump and his associates were definitely engaged and meeting with Russians at a time when Russia was known to be interfering with the 2016 election. Our law enforcement exists to protect us, and fortunately trump, many of his associates, and many of his followers are being investigated, arrested, and convicted of crimes. I doubt this justice would be happening if trump had won re-election.

You do acknowledge that trump lost and Biden won, yes? Or are you one of the conspiracy folks?

As a person inside the US I just look at it as just part of our amusing nationwide insanity that gets riled up every now and then. I am probably too used to everything here to really think of "why" this is happening. Everyone likes a little bit of conspiracy (and it isn't all wrong either in my view). Being anti-vaxx was a "leftwing hippy" kind of thing before it was what it is now. It's just how we are, and it's cute to me.

Distrust of the media and experts (things rightfully earned in my view, although one doesn't have to take it to this) which is prevalent among them might be another cause of it, not to mention classic narratives about elites and such which QAnon goes into a lot.

As for influencing politics, they already are, if one considers people who think the election was stolen to be overlapping with them (which I do), they are preparing for the next election and keeping all of this going, and keeping Trump and his allies relevant as much as they can. What more can they do? I don't think anything which will last a decade before it fades into non-existence.

"The direct collusion between the trump campaign and Russia is still unknown to the public......"

Exactly! It's just a charge and therefore guilty until proven innocent.

What angered the Left is when Trump filled the front row of the debate with all the women Bill Clinton sexually assaulted over the years that the Left ignores.
"...unknown to the pub lic."

What has been revealed since that article is this. And note that The Hill is conservative media.

There was Trump-Russia collusion — and Trump pardoned the colluder

Here's a good vid on the bizarre movement. People are broken mentally and need acceptance from others. A lot are rejected in society.

Biden won fair and square. By comparison Biden got far more votes than Clinton because she was uninspiring to her base. That’s why Trump was able to win 2016.

The Russian collusion obsession has eaten into the brains of the Left.

If the government wanted to they could find you guilty of some crime. There have been NO arrests of Trump associates for “Russian collusion”. However Clinton associates are being arrested for advancing the Russian collusion conspiracy.

Christopher Steele has admitted meeting with Russian intelligence agents which served to effect the election in Clinton’s favor, but you don’t care because he was working to advance your political interests.
