IAP - IAP Statement on the Teaching of Evolution

We agree that the following evidence-based facts about the origins and evolution of the Earth and of life on this planet have been established by numerous observations and independently derived experimental results from a multitude of scientific disciplines. Even if there are still many open questions about the precise details of evolutionary change, scientific evidence has never contradicted these results:
•In a universe that has evolved towards its present configuration for some 11 to 15 billion years, our Earth formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago.
•Since its formation, the Earth – its geology and its environments – has changed under the effect of numerous physical and chemical forces and continues to do so.
•Life appeared on Earth at least 2.5 billion years ago. The evolution, soon after, of photosynthetic organisms enabled, from at least 2 billion years ago, the slow transformation of the atmosphere to one containing substantial quantities of oxygen. In addition to the release of the oxygen that we breathe, the process of photosynthesis is the ultimate source of fixed energy and food upon which human life on the planet depends.
•Since its first appearance on Earth, life has taken many forms, all of which continue to evolve, in ways which palaeontology and the modern biological and biochemical sciences are describing and independently confirming with increasing precision. Commonalities in the structure of the genetic code of all organisms living today, including humans, clearly indicate their common primordial origin

At least this stays relatively in topic, which is evolution. Copy pasta can work for evolution too.

People want to POE us all the time, and they hate when you don't feed them and have facts for them to deal with.

You should check out the landover Baptist forums [I think] then those who are tricked come running here to see what they can get away with.

Landover is a parody forum. Think of it as the Onion of Christianity.

It's a common question asked of me: WHY R THUR STILL MUNKEES!? They cry.

I honestly haven't heard that question for a long time, and since that time it seemed religion really matured and found a harmony between itself and logic. Though this harmony does not always apply and it doesn't apply in some areas, it really did help make religion a little more... skeptic.

From what I see at least, if you see people actually asking this question it is one of two things; 1) A troll. or 2) A very uncommon stumble upon argument

Why does it matter to you? It's not your thread.

The second thing you ever said to me was 'Big words for a small man'. So by your statement above I am to take from that you don't want respect.

This is my thread. So either keep civil fingers on the keyboard, or bugger off.

Species living in the same place have different ancestors. One of things evolution has established is that if you go far enough back in time, at some point, we share an ancestor. I realize christianity just wants to link humans to one common ancestor. Thing is, going further in time, humans share ancestors with every species on the planet, not just apes and monkeys, its all very well established, the fossil record may not always be enough but our genetic codes do not lie it is irrefutable.

The question which has no assertive scientific answer is whether those species were a work of design or a work of randomness.

Dear ScuzManiac, False accusation since I support what I write with Scripture and it does NOT say that no one will live to be older than 120 years. You must have made that up. Here is what it says:

Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

That was on Adam's world BEFORE Humans married the sons of God (prehistoric people). The people who lived that long were direct descendants of Adam, right down to Noah. As it says in Gen 6:3, when humans marry prehistoric people, man won't live for 900 years anymore but will be be limited to only 13% of what his lifespan was BEFORE Humans married prehistoric people.

False. Better check your statistics. It's a rarety since that gets back to BEFORE birth certificates were kept reliably.

As is clearly shown above, it was you making up stuff up which you cannot support with Scripture, Science, nor History. Try to do better. God Bless you.

In Love,
Aman

1. There was a Bolivian man just last year who has a birth certificate showing that he was born in 1890. I do check my statistics and again, you're wrong.

2. It DOES NOT say that in Genesis 6:3. That is merely your interpretation of it which is fine. Either way, it is wrong as 13% of 900 is 117. There are quite a few people on the planet today that are older than that and there have been even more that have lived longer than that WITH legal documentation. I don't know how things work in India but we've been keeping birth and death certificates (as well as marriage licenses, legal records, etc) for a VERY long time in other parts of the world. So, yeah. You're 100% wrong there buddy.

3. Scripture is not support. It's a book. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory will support your arguments just as much as The Bible does. Why? Because you spit poop out of your mouth and expect people to listen to you when you can't even cite verses correctly. Learn your Bible before you preach it.

4. What do you mean ON Adam's world? Don't come on here and try to undermine my intelligence when you can't even write with proper grammar.

5. You believe in talking snakes and contradictions. Game, set, match.

False dichotomy. Design and randomness are not the only two options. The natural selection bit of evolution is anything but random.

I haven't broken any forum rules so I can say what I want. I was in fact simply responding to statements you and idav made.

You don't own this thread.

The question which has no assertive scientific answer is whether those species were a work of design or a work of randomness.

Science keeps showing time and time again that there are rational explanations that can be followed like a chain of cause and effect. We are not finding the miracle that would spell design. ID types continue to try and hide in the gaps of knowledge without being able to show where and why intervention even be necessary. Like the gap of where life came from, no intervention or miracle be necessary, certainly not intelligent intervention like creationist try to make people believe. So even if I granted design, it I looks like a slow unintelligent apathetic type design process and looks just like what random selection would.

False dichotomy. Design and randomness are not the only two options. The natural selection bit of evolution is anything but random.

Do natural selection cause things to evolve or things first evolve then naturally selected ?

What causes evolution ?

isn't it random mutation first then natural selection next or it is natural selection first and random mutation next ?

Did we come to existence by chance or by design ?

That isn't a false dichotomy but it is a fact. it'll break down to 2 choices,by plan or by chance.
