Why is there no Prophet of our time?

I do for one. Do you?

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak:
and he will shew you things to come.

Notice it does not say J Smith will lead and guide you into all truth

If we look at the three major monolithic faiths from the time of Adam to the Islamic prophet Muhammad, throughout that period there has been a steady progression of prophets and messengers from God. Why is there no prophet of our time? Why has God chosen to be silent in our darkest time? It would be nice to hear the views of all religions on this subject.
Maybe there is? Would we know at this point?

There were many "prophets" in the past that didn't make it, just a few did. The ones that did were not huge in the world at that time, but became bigger for multiple reasons later.

Maybe Rael is the new prophet? Or Ron L Hubbard? Or Chopra? Or maybe all prophets were and are the same and no one is really more than any other or even called by God? Or maybe all of them are called by God?

Yes, I actually do. So where does that put us if not back to square one? ;)

Nor does it say that Moses, Abraham or Isaiah will, and yet you didn't mention them. Trust me, we do not confuse Joseph Smith with the Holy Ghost.

I suspect each one of us is a prophet in our own life narrative.

(Please note, the sentence above is made up, and completely devoid of sense. I had a sudden urge to say something which sounded superficially profound, and I thought I'd pursue it, in case it was the Spirit of Truth working within me.)

There still are. In Catholicism, with individuals who have received prophetic revelations after the time of Christ, it's called private revelation. That means that it's not a matter of required faith to believe it, but some have been approved for belief. The Church is very picky about those things and rightfully so.

Always let your Spirit of Truth out. Otherwise the truth starts backing up and pretty soon you're feeling all bloated.

The Spirit of Truth is not an interchangable Term with Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit descends on Men according to Bible. But in the entire Bible there is no verse that Spirit of Truth descends itself. The Spirit of Truth is a Human who embodies Holy Spirit. Christ was alluding to His own return as Spirit of Truth.

"Why is there no Prophet of our time?"

What are you talking about? We must get at least two new ones in here every month.

I believe from the Christian biblical perspective there are no prophets in our time because Christ was the last Prophet and the scriptures contain the faith which was once and for all delivered.

"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe." (Heb 1;1-3)

Peter and Jude said we are to listen to and rely on the words of past prophets and their words as apostles of Jesus Christ...

Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior 2 Peter 3;1-2

Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. Jude 3

The foundation of the prophets, apostles, pointing to Jesus is already in place and there is no need for a prophet today.

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone... Ephesians 2:19-20

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.1 Corinthians 3:11

The apostles and Jesus Christ warn against false prophets and this means we have to avoid anyone who attempts to add or take away from what the apostles and prophets and the scriptures have relayed to us because the scriptures are complete and all that is needed has been given in them which point to Christ. I don't believe God is silent, but still speaks through His Word in the scriptures and Jesus who is called the Word, the foundation, prophet, High Priest, and Savior of the world.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3;16-17

Though the Truth was revealed in the past Ages, each Age requires a fresh measure of Truth, as the Light of Sun that appears everyday and just because yesterday the Sun appeared, does not mean It won't be raised again.

Just as Night that appeares after the Light of Day, the night of Revelation of Christ also came to pass as He prophecied by saying when the Sun shall be Darkened. That is the Reason after Christ there appeared Three Manifestations of God by Them same Truth came to the World.

It is very profound! We are all prophets in our own lives. Amen to that. Preach it! :D

No where does it say the Spirit of Truth is human. He that part of God spirit dwells with in us.

Yes it does. Bible declare Spirit of Truth "hears then He speaks". It is clear this Person has ears to hear and a Mouth to speak. That is a human embodiment of Holy Spirit.
