    Pagan Origins of Easter

honestly, people are looking over the facts. Paganism today, does not at all resemble paganism of the past. Paganism of the past involved sacrifice to gods (animal or human depending on the religion), religious orgies (experiencing the divine through sex), drug use (in some cases but not all)...

    Pagan Origins of Easter

To be fair, what is called paganism today is in many ways different than paganism in the days our Scriptures were wrtten. And concerning easter eggs etc, God looks at the Heart. I celebrate easter in a more catholic Christian sense, but i see no wrong in eggs etc, if the heart is focused on...

    Pagan Origins of Easter

God does not look at the form but the intent. I do not worship pagan goddesses, i worship and celebrate my Savior.

Open concepts of God. (RF & beyond)

Hehe, i know you were being a bit toungue in cheek there, but referring to my God as "The Trinity" (even though I am a Trinitarian) seems a bit Cold. He is a person not a concept. it would be like praying "Oh Omnipotent diety of abraham" :P

Open concepts of God. (RF & beyond)

Well, frankly in this society, only Christians Jews and Muslims call their god God. Most other faiths with deities use specific names for their deities. The Use of "God" as a proper noun seems to be unique to the Abrahamic faiths. I think its just an issue of how people learn to talk.

Indulgences for the living and dead

does anyone else get the distinct notion that this thread was started to inspire a heated Catholic/protestant debate?

Beliefs in the second comming. Is it required?

Christ will come again, it is a cornerstone of the Faith. Maranatha! Concerning the "status" of those who disbelieve, i will not stand in the place of God and Judge them, but it has been a teachign of the holy Scriptures and the catholic Church for 2000 years.

    Why not nuclear power?

Bad information primarily. Nuclear is honestly the best option for our future, if only people weren't obsessed with NIMBY

How have your beliefs developed/changed over your lifetime?

I was raised a Protestant Fundementalist, As I aged I moved into Evangelicalism, I became attracted to catholic (not roman) Christianity, and for a time considered myself Eastern Orthodox, I then began to see that contrary to the pamphlet Eastern Orthodoxy was not the monolithic Church...

    Do You Fit the "Mold"?

Christianity, due to its size has many molds. I think i break many of them, but im sure someone somewhere could find one i fit into :P

    Define Evil...

I would agree with the belief that evil is the corruption of good. As a Christian I would argue that as God is ultimately Good (Whether he Created Good, or if good simply exists and God is Good), that Evil could also be defined as the corruption of the Will of God.

    Abrahamic?

I am an amateur student of comparative religion, but I admit being Ignorant of Bahai. I was under the impression that your faith was more of an Eastern faith than an abrahamic faith. I take it im wrong? :P

    Concerning the Afterlife

I have heard it said by some that religious Jews do not believe in an Afterlife, and I have heard from some that you do. I have also heard it said that Some sects believe in reincarnation. Im simply curious, can someone clear this up for a confused Gentile :P

What is theism and how is it different from deism?

The way I have always understood it, and forgive me if i am wrong, is that theists simply believe in a god or gods. Deists believe in an impersonal God. So Both Deists and those who believe in a personal God, are both theists, as opposed to atheism, which does not believe in any God. To me...

Non-Christians ONLY Poll: Are Christian Apologetics Alive or Dead?

For every decent apologist (yes they do exist) there are 1000 hacks on the internet.

Would it be a sin to give an orthodox icon to a catholic boy?

I think he should be fine with an Icon. In the RCC Statues are essentially three dimensional Icons. I personally am an Anglican, and find beauty in the various Christian Traditions, and i feel we have a lot to learn from each other. Things like this should be encouraged :) but I agree, you...

    Revelation 14

I personally believe the book of Revelation to be Highly Symbolic. It is quite possible that John was addressing current issues, perhaps with some prophesy as well. It is very difficult to understand what these symbols mean because we are so far removed from the time in which they were...

Is Islam generally Iconoclastic, or only more conservative Branches? Does the Koran forbid the use of Images to aid in (but not recieve) worship? Just curiousity :)
