No doubt in Qur'an [2.2] , but who doubt it ?

Well, as regards 24:2 you have translated it in two different ways: and Did you copy it from somewhere without looking for there is a difference between fornication and adultery which some people point out while explaining this difference in punishment (of stoning and lashes)? As for me, I...

No doubt in Qur'an [2.2] , but who doubt it ?

I have three points to make: 1. My position is that both punishments 100 lashes and stoning are allegorical and indicative, both were in the context of time. This is as clear to me and I feel it to be true, as it is clear to you that it is 100 lashes literally. 2. I am not asking your...

No doubt in Qur'an [2.2] , but who doubt it ?

So your position is that following the Prophet is not the same as sunnah? I am not clear as to what you are saying here. Secondly, I agree that even the Prophet (pbuh) made some wrong decisions. But he was a person with knowledge. Does not the Quran say, Either one has to be well-founded in...

No doubt in Qur'an [2.2] , but who doubt it ?

Following the sunnah is the same as following the Prophet. There is no difference between the two. If there is any difference it is mere in your interpretation of how to follow the Prophet. Quran 3:31 clearly says that if you love God, follow the Prophet.

No doubt in Qur'an [2.2] , but who doubt it ?

Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and beware (of evil): if ye do turn back, know ye that it is Our Messenger's duty to proclaim (the Message) in the clearest manner. (5: 92). O ye who believe! obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If ye differ in...

    Just a friendly Debate

Welcome to RF. :) I am a Muslim and I believe that this distinction between religion and science is superficial and real knowledge encloses both and more. Hypnotised and mesemerised with the materialistic progress that practical scientific applications have given to the world, many people...

    True Muslims: Sunni vs Shia

The Shia tradition and the Sunni folds are two basic divisions, but there are a myriad of ideas existing within them which combine together in many ways. Like a Sunni Muslim can take his fiqh or jurisprudence from a particular school of thought, take his theology from another school of thought...

How to make math and science education interesting

As a maths teacher I strongly support Lockhart's essay on what is wrong with the current system of teaching mathematics in school, and what should be done to correct it.

    wife beating in quran

Hello Gurusikh. Thank you for your kind words. I am humbled. Quranic verses are of kinds: one whose message is fundamental and basic, and one whose message is allegorical. ("He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental; they are the foundation of the Book...

what if there are knowledge about 'God' or 'Allah' found elsewhere?

Nothing in the sense of human expression can contain God. The Quran itself says that if all the seas were ink and the trees made into pen even then the words of God wont be exhausted. Islam in the most generic sense is that you come in the state of harmony/surrender with the everlasting Reality...

Is Hinduism really considered idolatry in the Abrahamic eyes?

Firstly the term "Abrahamic"/"Abrahamic religion" is simply a formal term which has no real essence on the spiritual path. God is God, a symbol for something not contained by any human expression, whether you are following the path of Muhammad(pbuh) or of the Hindu sages. A true follower is all...

the importance on the distinction between revelation in Hinduism and Islam

I think you are quite correct at the exoteric level of this distinction between various religions. However, if you scratch beyond theology, slowly the distinction wanes away at the esoteric level. I will try to post more about this later. For the moment, I want to say there is a famous book on...

Can a Sufi reach a level in which hes to longer accountable to God?

I agree to what you said. When I said he turned away from Ilm-e-Kalam I meant that he turned away from it in his pursuit of understanding the true nature of things, and found that sort of knowledge inadequate. And that is all.
