Okay, fine.

But don't you think there are some US soldiers in Iraq who believe in helping others? Who don't take part in the torture and killings? Who actually rebuild infrastructure and protect innocent civilians?

There are many Corporal Tony Bonecas in the US Army who believe in doing good for this world. And I hope to be one of them by joining the Canadian Forces when I'm done university. There are many of us who find that going to another country and directly helping the people - protecting them from violence, giving them medicine, rebuilding their homes and cities, and giving them a stable government - is the right thing to do.

you do not do that in someone else's nation with guns in your hand. btw..stable government that's established by Western is a government who works for Western.

You need a gun in your hand to protect civilians who come under fire. And yourself.

And that's not necessarily true. Look at Afghanistan. Hamid Karzai is implementing policies that NATO doesn't really like.

ContentiusMaximus; you expect all Muslims to approve death threats? that's what your argument stands on?

he he he, nice...
Plus,
Why did you assume that lava is he not she? :D

I tried to word my posts to be gender-neutral towards lava, since lava did not fill in the "Gender:". So, I don't know, but it's getting annoying to word all my posts like that. So, I'm just assuming lava is male and if that is incorrect, I'll be more than glad to make a correction.

Even when I explicitly say it, it isn't clear to you? It had nothing to do with Muslims but YOUR views. Your posts indicated that you were in support of what this guy did and so either you over-looked the death threats (didn't read that part of the article or missed it for whatever reason) or you were defending the death threats. When you said "I do not approve of death threats", that answered my question and I had no more issue with you.

That's all :)

Good question. I htought she was a he until I looked at her profile. I really don't know why!
I did this once!!

Maximus, there are Muslims here from different nationalities and cultures and not necessarily they can speak Arabic.

I think lava and jamaesi made a good point, we only heard one side of the story and we are talking if we are sure that the Canadian guy is credible and completely honest.
We haven't heard the other side...and we don't really know what made the husband (and maybe his wife) angry...

I'm aware. But if they study the Quran (which is what the thread kinda delved into at some points) they'll know at least some. And some is more than pretty much none (like in my case lol). Though I did try to learn from an Egyptian friend of mine.

i do not care how you call me. my gender has nothing to do with my thoughts.

You knew that al huda is an Arabic word! ;)

He tried to teach me the alphabet, but my problem was I couldn't differentiate between the letters. It was very difficult. I have no problem with other languages with Romanticized letters. Italian, Spanish, French, or even Scandinavian languages I can pick up on. But Arabic was definitely a hard one because it's so different. I might try again one day when I have more time.
